iFixit gives Xiaomi Mi 11 an average repairability score

16 March 2021
The team managed to remove the rear panel and the screen without cracking them, but there are a few issues.

Wereweeb, 16 Mar 2021Giving a 4 to Xiaomi is ok, giving a 6 to Apple... not so m... moreThere seems to be zero transparency about the scores on their website anyway. Looks like its just a marketing tool for them. Did any of you find a page where they explain their own metrics, or lets you can compare the gear they rate? I mean any car mag or site for audio gear is able to show me sub scores or a comparison table, right? Please post link here if you have one. Thanks.

Nick, 17 Mar 2021It wouldn't be surprised if Apple is involved in that ... moreThe name of the company itself is a staple nomenclature for Apple p®oducts.
It's that obvious!!! They aren't even hiding it...

No point Iphone get high score if they block you from using third party parts..

iFixit pretty much anti non US product giving apple a 6 while a much more repairable and can easily swap out any parts w/o hardware/id lock a 4. oof.

Who knew a 4 is considered average and a 6 is considered top scores for repairability? And those top scores comes from iPhones for goodness sakes! Coming from the same company that wanted sealed batteries and made phones harder and harder to repair. The one responsible for all this. The irony.

            what a joke

they wrote, Mi11 use less glue hence easier to open and parts can be replace separately but Apple still got higher score and easier to repair (??)

teardown score does not equal repairability score!
teardown score = how easy it should be to tear down something
repairability score = how possible it should be to replace broken part(s) to repair something

iFixit is THE LEADER in misleading people with their logical fallacy.
iphones, since few years ago, are IMPOSSIBLE to fix by ANY 3rd party repairmen (read: unauthorized, non-Apple certified GENIUS who ask people to replace the WHOLE mainboard when the pronlem is the faulty Lightning connector) because they PAIRED TONS of iphone parts which is not interchangeable with original iphone parts without pairing to Apple servers (the confirmed ones so far are LCD & camera modules).

It won't even boot up without connecting it to charger!
              What a GENIUS!

It wouldn't be surprised if Apple is involved in that site.
iPhones has serial component blocking. Xiaomi an a lot of others don't

Giving a 4 to Xiaomi is ok, giving a 6 to Apple... not so much. iFixit should update their scoring system to cover the firmware locking of components.

pretty funny from them giving a 6 to iphone 12, when Apple is actively trying to block any third party repair done on their devices.

a score of 4, should phones even be repairable by the customer anymore?? i think that's a question u ask John Deere haha
