21 March 2021
The A52 is available in 4G and 5G versions, the A72 comes in 4G only. All three versions became available earlier this week.

The A52 5G can shave off 100 pounds. That's my view on this phone. Current RRP/MRSP at 400 pounds is too high.

I'd be more interested in the stronger 5G version of the A72.

I know that those CPUs are a cheaper alternative to the 800 series that is just god tier from 845 and up but samsung just can't understand that some users need more performance(not gaming performance but a little more won't be bad).

The A52 looks really great. And I think the price is really reasonable. Sure, camera quality seems to be exaggerated by the marketers, but the fact that it has OIS is promising. And honestly 3 years of updates is what made it the selling point for me. I think I'll finally replace my 4 year-old Huawei P9 lite with this one. I wish it was a bit smaller in size, though. What's with the trend of making all these mid-rangers large, anyway?

I do not play games, I don't care about CPU/GPU. We're all witnessing what Pixel is doing - Pixel 5 is using SD765, Pixel 4a 730G and etc. and they all feel faster than Mi 10T in example. The hardware is not all that matters. MIUI is not optimized.
I'm determined that gonna buy myself A52 (just the 4G, it's cheaper - around 335€.
All I want is stable system with regular updates. Ability to use social medias and good camera. NEVER AGAIN XIAOMI.

IP rating isn't as important to me. Only concern is the fingerprint sensor, which were terrible on A50 and A51.

Price would be pretty fair for 8GB RAM in my opinion. I don't care about feature software updates but rather security updates.

People buying flagship phones have much more money at their disposal. So, for example if somebody wants more storage they could easily just pay 100-300EUR more for the higher model. It's peanuts money for them, lol.
With mid-range and budget models, people are more careful with their money, because they don't have them. So, they will want these "extra things". MicroSd cards are cheaper, wired headphones are cheaper. They do not want to be oblige in paying more money. Otherwise they will just change company.

These are the first Samsung mid-range phones with OIS, and I would not buy a phone without optical stabilization. Only two other mid-range phones with OIS exist: Google Pixel 4a and iPhone SE, but the Samsung beats them on many levels at a very good price.

The same is with IP67 rating. How many people take their phones in the shower or in the pool? Lol. Majority of phones nowadays offer some kind of splash resistance or IP53 rating. Which is enough for a rainy day or something.
The only really plus and could be considered a selling point in this price range is OIS. But, even that is a plus only for those camera geeks.
Bottom line, this phones are good and they are clearly better than last year models. But too expensive if you ask me. For people wanting these models, I will advice them to wait couple of months, as for sure prices will come down drastically.

As for the cameras: newsflash, not everyone gives a sh*t, I'm not a wannabe professional photographer who can't afford a DSLR. Only thing I want is OIS on the main shooter. If someone offered a phone with a single camera on the entire thing I'd still consider it.

We barely have 4G coverage in Germany so 5G version would be a waste of money. Stereo speakers are appreciated and the matte plastic is good. However, I don't like the fact that there is only a 6GB version here. 8GB should have been the standard for a long time now.

If the A53 has 8GB of RAM and my S8 stops working, I might buy one.

But, I wonder, how many of you are doing this? Who, for example still has an A series Samsung phone from 2018 or 2017? Not so many, I am sure of this.
Then why put longevity of the software updates as a big plus when buying a new phone? I mean, pay 150-200EUR extra just for this?
Not to mention, the hardware part of things. In the way the market is evolving now, a 3-4 year mid-range chipset is useless, compared to the new generations. Also, is much harder to work with (so, many more bugs when implementing the newest software updates to this older chipsets can occur).
Don't get me wrong, software updates are important and I like companies who are interested and investing in them. But to pay much more money just for this reason, no way.
