For me nothing less than the Nokia Lumia 920 will suffice.
I am also very disappointed that Microsoft did not choose Nokia to champion the Windows Phone cause considering that Nokia almost single handedly brought the Windows Phone OS to every ones attention.
          Shame on you Microsoft.

Devices such as these will begin to appeal to a much wider audience and will offer the real prospect of Windows Phone rightly becoming a serious alternative to Android and iOS.

Wow, that is really a special price. I think that will impact the Nokia WP market share.

um... These two phones are just another phones in the crowding market.... NO INNOVATIONS LIKE NOKIA LUMIA so no thanks. Ps: the lumia 820 is even better than 8x en 8s design is better than 8x.

£225 for those specs is a very fair price according to me, nokia will be forced to lower their price tags by htc&samsung, then we will be able to buy our preferred lumias at fair prices..keep it up htc!!

i dont like 4.3 screen size as it is too bulky.i like maximum 4.0 screen. So HTC 8s is perfect.Nokia is also good but the upcomings are all 4.3 size.Even at Iphone 5 is also 4.0 screen size.

probably a way how to beat an android - Google still didn't get its things together, and MS is no longer sleeping bear. History repeats itself, Apple fought the wrong enemy (IBM = Google) and should have looked on mS.

there's only rubish in low end android market (and utter rubish in low-end affordable iOS market e.g. iPhone4) - with poor low res displays, 256-386MB of RAM (512 and you're lucky), single core CPUs of 2 years old architecture and on top archaic gingerbread madly skinned by manufacturers to contain their bloatware...

in that sense, I HTC 8S looks like a VERY sweet affordable phone (dual Krait!) compared to that those phones like 'Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 Plus Andromeda limited edition' and similar...

Personaly I own HTC One S (new for £250-£280) with CM10 and is amazng. 8X is thus absolutely no temptation - but that isn't what average Joe is able to do (will have screwed HTC Sense)...

I love Android, but this day marks the begining of a new era, Google should be prepared, Apple scared...

the 8s will sell very well if this is the correct price, and let´s not forget it will drop eventually. this device along with the lumia 710 successor will put pressure on android devices at the mid and lower end of the market to raise their game.

Yes, it's not so high price and Lumia 920/820 can be better choice.
I would say that 8S isn't the same spec phone as Lumia 820, it look like more up coming Lumia Flame. And I would love to get 8S faster than wait for Lumia Flame.

I hope Nokia price their two Lumia phones similarly.

Anyway I work in a phone shop in the UK and I find that the SIM free prices are not a deciding factor when purchasing a phone, as more than 90% of our smart phone customers purchase them on a monthly contract.

If these windows devices are to sell they need to be priced Sub £30 a month and then we can see a significant increase in the market share. I hope that is the case.
