wyim, 24 Mar 2021Stil no Android 11 for Nokia 8.1 at this moment…Very frustrating, I hope they make up for it by doing more than 3 years of security updates for the Nokia 8.1 great phone and I don't want to replace it for several more years

e-Clergy, 24 Mar 2021Nokia is do great in keeping to its promise to provide upgr... more1. Nokia 'promises' to unlock Nokia 8 bootloader YEARS ago, but NEVER be realized.
Do u know how MANY mad Nokia 'flagship' owners who hold grudge & left Nokia for good?
MILLIONS! As many as they sold those phones in 2017-2018, and I'm one of them.

              2. Do u know Nokia tricked us with their '2 major updates' BS?
Nokia 8 was released in 2018 (only China get it in 2017) with Android Nougat when ALL other brands are already released their 2018 Flagship with SD845 with OREO out-of-the-box; the problem is, they SHAMELESSLY priced it as high as SD845-powered ones (the cheapest one 4/64 sold @ 600$)!
Then, after the last update in 2019 with Pie, HMD 'easily' forget their promise of 'at least' unlock Nokia 8 bootloader if they don't give us other major updates (which is TOTALLY planned!)
Since 2017, they ALWAYS flashed previous Android version in order to make their '2 major updates' BS viable; The trick is, with Android One, they are FORBIDDEN.TO.TWEAK.ANYTHING; they only have to flash the ROM, so it's almost impossible that they don't be able to provide the latest Android version!
Which means, the ACTUAL Major upgrade is ONLY 1 version, as they 'hold' the release of the 'supposedly real out-of-the-box OS' for NEXT.YEAR UPGRADE, and the 2nd Major upgrade is your ACTUAL UPGRADE.
Ironically, these practice HAVE.BEEN.DONE.REPEATEDLY since 2017 and HMD NEVER EVER feel they wronged their customer.
Combined with their NOTORIOUS QC, their phone is worse than Realme in terms of hardware failure rate (charging port easily broken, camera sensors easily broken /blurred, display easily broken, SoC easily overheated because no proper cooling which resulted in OFTEN restart (My Nokia 8 even bootloop right now!)

              3. When u said 'cheap', u should have a comparison in mind, and NO NOKIA phones can be considered 'cheap' (even Nokia 1, 2, and 3 are OVERPRICED CRAP when u compare it with similarly priced devces from Xiaomi, Meizu, Infinix, or Realme!)

              4. In Android, especially cheap ones, people consider HARDWARE (SoC, RAM capacity, camera pixels, etc) more than OS. Why? because, no matter how advanced the OS is, hardware limitation is still there; just look at iphone 5/6, no way their ancient hardware, coupled with severly limited RAM won't be nothing when running apps/playing!).

              Take Nokia 1, for example.
HMD put ALL freedom 251 parts and sold it for 100EUR!
While in China, phone with Nokia 1 specs are around 25-30$ (Quad core cheapest MediaTek, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, 480p display, 5MP/2MP cam)!

See how HYPERPRICED their device are?

It's most unfortunate that Nigeria is usually not considered for your update on Nokia 3.2. We the patrons and users of Nokia brands will have to think of better alternative to Nokia.

As far as I know, Nokia 5.3 is superior to Nokia 3.2 in terms of hardware and release date. Why Android 11 update has not been released for Nokia 5.3 yet? I live in Iran.

In the meantime Oneplus 9 series got an update which still has February security patch. That's sad.
