sq2013, 28 Mar 2021Because you don't need Updates. It's a fallacy. I... moreYeah because when a 60 year old grandma want to buy a phone, she will totally surf ebay or craiglist for hours through those shady listings to get an used phone because she can have better spec that way. And when she has problem with the phone, she will totally just root it and fix it herself instead of getting a new phone with warranty and support from the manufacturer.

Yuri84, 28 Mar 2021If Samsung offered 4G and 5G versions with identical specs ... moreI think the same. manufacturers should release devices with top SOC but without the 5G antenna and modem. that would help keep the price down and great for a lot like me who aint planning on using 5G for quite some time.

Android or IOS is "immune" to virus as the worst virus can do is just adware or manipulating one or two device function (and it only affects when it has been opened, and force closing it can fix it because there is no permanent virus in android). And it's hard to get viruses in phone (except adware which is pretty common). If you mean laptop's antivirus, windows defender is already capable of it, except if you just download everything that appears in internet.

For VPN I just use the freemium apps, mainly I don't need VPN except to access another country's content, i used DNS often though.

Snapdragon processor is way better than Exynos and the difference is more prominent in Mid-range devices. Samsung did a good job this time by not offering Exynos variant at all. However, I really wish the Samsung-Nvidia partnership would bring some serious upgrade in graphics department of Exynos processors.

Many manufacturers boast about how often they release updates. Many of these actually have little to no effect. I have rooted many phones, voiding the warranty and stopping software and security updates. Those phones never stopped working and doing what I wanted them to do. It's nice to get an OS update now and again as it gives you new software features and a new look but in reality, the health and performance are rarely boosted. It's a total fallacy. Sometimes if you're on a really old software version say android 4, certain app developers will stop support for their app with such an old OS but apart from that. I have a spare Samsung galaxy S5 on lollipop and it is working perfectly.
