'Only time will tell'. It's the worse ever term in journalism and any kind of analytical writing. If time will tell, what's the expertise of the analyser? Waiting?

Dometalican, 29 Mar 2021To answer your question, no, it's not good enough in t... moreThat's exactly too much to ask of the manufacturer. OnePlus used to be exactly what you want but look at what they are right now.

Thing is, building a company just around "enthusiast" like you is just totally not sustainable, the enthusiasts online are just a vocal minority, but in reality they make up like not even 1% of the market. Why go to the distance and do all those things to please the 1% when the 99% other just don't care?

Look up the video about enthusiast companies from TechAltar on Youtube, he explains it very well.

Woohoo, 29 Mar 2021S21 Ultra seems to fit the bill most accuratelyExcept...it doesn't have a jack or microSD card. I know it's battery did well but those other things omitted as well as me not wanting to support a hypocrite company like Samsung anymore is why I won't get it.

stock android and OOS looks so ugly ....
why are the icons so spaced out and small??!?!??!
at least MiUI gets the size and spacing right despite it being disgusting

I would have buy it.... If its telephoto camera was better, but it's a letdown compared to s21 ultra

                            > The value proposition is still there

Absolutely no, with discounts SGS 21+ and 21 Ultra are much better phones with better much support (monthly updates, 3 years of OS updates, 4 years of security updates) and much better cameras.

                            > OnePlus is trying to reposition itself both in terms of market segments and locations.

Um, what? What I see is that they've lost any remnants of conscience and have decided they can charge a top dollar for very mediocre devices.

When you are charging $1000 for your smartphone, then you can't justify your comparatively poor camera performance by undercutting Galaxys and iPhones by $100. It's quite simple, if a customer can spend $1000 bucks on a smartphone, then $100 would not be a big reason to set aside their brand preference and significantly better camera performance.

I still feel that 7 Pro & 7T was when 1+ were at their peak. after that it was only downhill, except for the camera maybe.
And the 9R is the same price as 8T (it's also the same exact phone with a name change essentially) in India (give or take Rs.1-2k), and ofc they won't discount the 8T, so consumers will end up paying the same amount. They never discount their older phones, heck they even remove the cheapest variant (base storage), so that even if u want a 7T, you'd need to buy the more expensive version which is still priced the same as when it launched.

Davy Jones, 29 Mar 2021In india 9R is cheaper than 8t so it a better dealSince op8 series already 1 year old, used op8t and op8pro will be amazing deal. Is op9r is the the best oneplus can offer for budget op9 series? Slap sd870 on op8t and call it a day?

Major blunder. Crippling the vanilla 9 inorder to sell more 9 pro will only hurt them. Those who buy $1k+ phones like grandpa already have loyal brands in mind like those who remove chargers in the retail boxes. The 1+ funbase wouldn't even buy the crippled plastic frame build of the vanilla 9 & 9r is only in India we just have to look elsewhere Pixel 6 maybe...
