Aluminum itself does not make it premium. Take carbon for example is dirt cheap but weave into carbon fibre and walla! It's how the material is processed that counts. If you want to do aluminum you should go the htc way. Micro arc oxidation turns aluminum into ceramic hard. Instead apple chose to go the soda can way. That explains the low production cost of iphone. Dirt cheap process. LOL at soda can iphone5

Take a look at this poll. At the moment a massive 45% have this issue. If we was to take this literally nearly 1 in every 2 iPhone5 has this MAJOR issue and we all know how many millions they sell.

Tom, 23 Sep 2012Sometimes i just wish a huge hand from the vastness of spac... moreI want smb to bitchslap these companies for not making $600-800 phones perfect out of the box! I mean, come on! We put a man on the moon in 1960s. You mean to tell me these ppl cant make a smartphone that works, lasts and doesnt come damaged out of the box?! The most expensive cellphone used to cost $400-450 dollars in the 90s and they worked perfect. Now for twice the money all we get is bug this, unstable that and a factory scratch/antenna-gate? They are ridiculing us!!!

Me thinks Apple made a stupid move going away from a plastic/polycarbonate back just to give that "wow" factor.

oh man, what's your point about having a sleek look design and aluminum shell if you're gonna put it inside a rubber protector case because it chips so easily?
