They work for multitasking which Android can do, and each core runs separate Apps or processes because if you run everything through a single core it heats up and loses performance and seriously affects battery life.

mOOMIN, 24 Sep 2012standard: iphone fanboy defedns the device to hell and ba... moreIt's not about defending a phone its about saying a phone is crap but not saying why. There is clear evidence from Samsung S3 that there are more outstanding features than Apple's iphone 5 in a report. Also personally I don't see the hype in camping out in the rain/cold just to obtain any phone.

I think I can explain.
I'm no engineer, just hobbyist, but I know a thing or two about anodizing aluminum alloys.
1. anodizing is creating a thin layer of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) wich is very hard (think sapphire).
There are several ways to do it.
2. Basically two processess are widely used, they're named TypeII and Type III. The latter is sometimes called hard anodizing (HA, or HAIII).
3. They differ both in process of creation and physical properities. TypeII is easier to make (it can be easily done at home), and can be dyed in plethora of colours, but it's much softer.
It's also much, much cheaper to made.
Hard anode is harder both to make and to destroy :) (think like having a bowl of battery acid in refrigerator connected to like 20amps of DC)
4. HAIII is very hard to scratch or dent, even with a steel blade.
5. They both have strict requirements for preparing the surface (not all aluminum alloys are suitable!), or they will peel off :)
Bottom line: somebody at Apple screwed hard.
They wanted to save money both on the process and quality of materials.
This is how it ends.

Its a shame that they market the iphone 5 before approving a suitable protective case for it to prevent the soft aluminum from damage

standard:
iphone fanboy defedns the device to hell and back
android user defends the samsungs to hell and back
both slate the other. when in fact both phones are very good, yet neither are worth the asking price or in case of apple the hysteria

iSJ5, 24 Sep 2012samsucks i mean samsung is cheap plastic-copy - knock off!At least, you can't easy peal off the colour of SGS 3.
Now, phone case is mandatory with iPhone 5, and it will then not be the thinnest phone in the world.
And, I think the case thickness will be more than the 1 (1mm) difference between it & SGS 3.
Technical-wise, SGS 3 is far more better than iPhone 5.

iSJ5, 24 Sep 2012samsucks i mean samsung is cheap plastic-copy - knock off!I remember you you're the Iphone fan person who love knocking Samsung phones with absolutely no evidence to back your claims. So you're doing the same thing without any evidence again? Cheap plastic? Well there is evidence to show that Apple is using cheap aluminium alloys to manufacture the phone therefore making it lighter. So look at it in a "cheap" point of view, that its not good wagging the finger at Samsung when Apple uses cheap materials too. Each phone has their faults but the Iphone 5 outweighs the problems that Samsung S3 has. So please back up your claims or if this is your own point of view then fair enough.

Fuji, 24 Sep 2012Apple will change it if u report it. But Samsung still stay... morelol now who has the cheap aluminium phone? No problems with Samsung, no "slight" scuff marks or dents. Apple will expect you to pay for it or what they'll say is its your fault for not putting it in a padded bag. So first you pay over £500 for it then you pay for the refurbishment of your scuff marks or dents. Don't worry the CEO will give you a free bumper case like that should solve every Iphone problem.
