But also make sure that phone like Poco X3 Pro which goes for about 300 is also 65g heavier, 7mm wider and 8mm taller, also over 1mm thicker. If you are looking for a normal sized midranger I'm not sure what options you have besides Pixel and 10II, all the low end Chinese and Samsungs have the same footprint which is about 75mm wide or more.

Awesome looking phones, really. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more just so I can get a phone that's as good looking as this. And it is Sony, after all.

Anyone paying EUR 385 for an Xperia 10 II is getting robbed. You can pick up a brand new Xperia 10 II dual SIM for well under 300 Euros which is a lot more competitive.

A lot of people here missing the point of the Xperia 10 II and III. In a market full of oversize slabs, these are rare phones that can be used properly with one hand and have decent (not flagship) specs which is the compromise.
Plenty of people willing to sacrifice flagship specs in exchange for a small, slim phone that doesn't need hands like shovels to use and a wheelbarrow to cart it around.

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 06 Apr 2021Snapdragon 665 is cheap hardware especially when offered in... morePlenty of 2019 flagships with Snapdragon 855 were available at that price.
Naturally people aren't f°°ls to buy the Xperia 10 II at that price.
Consequently, it was a colossal failure!!
Most people are going to buy Realme, Redmi or Mi phones in this price over some unreliable has-been company like Sony

Anonymous, 06 Apr 2021Completely different approach to camera. P30 Pro is HDR all... moreDifferent approach? Yes. Agressive tone mapping and HDR all the time? Dead wrong (agressive tone mapping is there on older P20, but got fixed on updated firmware). Clearly u havent use any Huawei flagship before, nor doesnt know how it camera works. The better on P40 clearly just a better hardware + updated image algorithm (I own it).
When the text 'sharpening image, please hold still...' appear, thats when the image stacking happening. Its not 'all the time'.
Master AI on - Auto HDR image stacking. UWA, Portrait or Night Mode suggestion, with colors & contrast boost base on scene detection.
Master AI off - Auto HDR image stacking, with no color & contrast boost. (I use this, most of the time). When tap on specific area on the frame to lock exposure, HDR wont happen.
Pro Mode (left everything in Auto, untouched settings) - No Auto HDR, the 'sharpening image, please hold still...' text wont appear, means image stacking will not process. Of course with no color & contrast boost either. Sometimes I need this method in order to darken shadows & brighter highlights for specific scene. Its working like what Sony Xperia in Auto image processing, traditional JPEG compression with no image stacking.

Anonymous, 06 Apr 2021There is nothing cheap quality or crappy about X10II, had y... moreUsually I don't agree with iosneveragain guy, but on this matter he is right.
Budget offerings from Sony (meaning the L4 and X10II) were very bad. Sony just wanted to put some nice features on them just to make people buy them, but they put the price completely wrong. Also, the L4 model was a plasticky phone, really bad to the touch (the same like my past Pixel 4a). Bad quality plastic, worse to the touch than the plastic from Samsung phones for example.
In Czechia those phones were more expensive than other better phones from Xiaomi or Realme. And the built quality is good enough on some 200-250EUR models from Xiaomi or Realme.
Not a fan of Chinese phones (especially the flagship ones, I would rather buy a Samsung or Apple at that price point), but in the budget segment (below 400EUR) some Chinese models are worth it (far better than what Motorola, Sony, Nokia, or other manufacturers bring to the table).

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 06 Apr 2021They did launch crappy Xperia 10 II with Snapdragon 665 at ... moreThere is nothing cheap quality or crappy about X10II, had you hold it in your hand you would know. Glass back feels like glass unlike Samsung and Chinese that make their phones feel like plastic despite them claiming being glass both on display and back plate. That's the difference in coating. So build quality is top notch I can tell you that I have one in my hand right now. Actually that's the best part of the phone together with the design. Display is OK, uw and telephoto cameras are meh, main camera is OK, nightmode is on par with Chinese in the same price range and SoC will keep you doing usual things you do on your smartphone but it's definitely the weakest point of the device. Overall it's a good incognito device for people who are not into phones.

Shui8, 06 Apr 2021Dynamic range. Plays a big part where currently Xperia imag... moreCompletely different approach to camera. P30 Pro is HDR all the time and it has aggressive tone mapping, colors pop and sharpness in high frequency areas is pronounced. They fixed most of these things with P40 Pro. P30/P40 are great if you shoot outdoor landscape and architecture but when it comes to shooting people indoors I'm not sold. There is a quite a chance that your subject will be of same or less of an importance to something in the background, especially if you have a window in the background as phone will try too much to show what's behind the window and miss out on exposure and contrast on the subject. Or if you have something of high frequency in the background than the sharpness will kick in for that object only. Phones that rely on post processing too much like Huawei and Pixel do misfire a lot of times when it comes to subject recognition and prioritization because they don't learn, they have scene setups and scripts which they follow. If your framing gets recognized as some of the scenes it will work great, but if it doesn't then the phone goes into some default mode so it's hit or miss.
It's subjective really. I think Xperia excels at shooting people and portraits due to great looking natural bukeh that comes from lens and sensor not from post. You should have your 5II in P mode all the time (not AUTO) and turn on HDR
