LG will update select phones to Android 11, some will even get Android 12

The company will also continue working on security patches. However, the list of supported models and the timing is still being determined.

Read about it on a different site, high end phones starting from 2019 seem to get 3 major OS updates total (what a timing LG...)

High end phones seem to be G8, G8S, V50, V60, Velvet and Wing.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2021Lies!!! LG seldom update phones when they were in business... moreLol, seldom update? You must be missing the news about their Android 11 update. Heck, even their old flagship phones got OS update as well. Just ask G7 One owners.

I definitely hope the Android 11 update will roll out on the V50 alongside all the G8 models. The updated Screen+ Desktop Mode is something the V50 and the G8X really deserve to have. I'd be surprised if the Android 12 update rolling on the V50 and the G8 models though.

Mike, 07 Apr 2021Criminy, I'm still waiting for Android 10 on my Verizon G7!Unlocked ones like mine got their Android 10 update back in november, but i don't think my G7 will see Android 11 even though g7 one is scheduled to receive.

                    Lies!!!
LG seldom update phones when they were in business. Why will they start doing it now that they are leaving?

Skrk, 07 Apr 2021How they will give only selected models ... LG must give up... moreHow can they do something that none is doing? Select models means smartphones that match a minimum of requirements for the upcoming updates. For e.g you may not see any model older than 2019 to receive Android 11, and no model older than 2020 to receive Android 12. LG will at least be respectful to its commitment on the normal updates.

LG didn't do a great job updating their phones when they were still in the Android smartphone business...so what makes us think they'll do a good job now that they're no longer in the business?

LG users, please don't hold your breath waiting for this.

The midrange phones like the LG G6 Stylo was absolutely dreadful. On their flagships they were concentrating on audio, specifically headphone audio with a quad DAC system they patented. But maybe they were too late. People had moved on to wireless headphones. Then they were pricing their phones stupidly.
