GSMArena labs: introducing a faster way to compare the battery endurance of phones

15 April 2021
Our reviews now have a simple widget that allows you to compare the battery performance of a given phone with other models.

Sort by:

bulbulito.bayagbag, 15 Apr 2021You can see how optimized iphones are. Software and hardwar... moreHow so? The call time is the lowest in this comparison, and it doesn't have a 1440p 120Hz display so ofc it will win in web browsing and video playback.

Guys, the tool is great, but I do believe you need to adjust the way you measure battery endurance. In many cases, looking at performance numbers, one might think that phone has a good battery life but in fact it doesn't. For example, Galaxy Note10 - overall endurance number looks good as well as numbers in each category. But in real use this phone has quite mediocre battery life to say at best. The same situation is with Galaxy S10e: on paper battery life looks good, but in real life - quite poor. And in fact phonearena and notebookcheck rated endurance rating of both devices quite low which is much closer to reality than false impression of good battery life from gsmarena. I'm quite sure such a discrepancy somehow related to testing conditions and stand-by endurance. And quite frankly - if a phone loses 5% overnight (7 hours) being connected to just a cellular network, it translates to 15% during 24 hours (which is quite a lot). Also, it's a very subjective, saying that phone has a "great" or "average" etc stand-by endurance. Much better to see charge loss during some period of time. I'm not arguing about your measurements and quite sure they are correct. But what is incorrect - false overall impression of good battery life for some of the tested devices which definitely indicates that there is a flow somewhere in testing methodology and/or reporting final results to readers. And as I mentioned above - my claim is supported by conclusions from other resources. All the best.

thank you GSMArena! very useful feature, more useful than the What is my Phone thing

I wish if this could be available for every single spec. Sometimes, we only need to compare s specific spec like processor or camera. Add a' +' sign on the right of each spec.

I've recently had a Mi11 and quickly sold it because of the bad battery life. Now with the OP9 Pro (current phone), the battery life is much much better. But here, it scores higher (89hr vs 86hr), which doesn't make any sense to me.

I personally don't agree that the results of the tests here are dependable.

You can see how optimized iphones are. Software and hardware optimization.

                      Excellent.

                      Thank you GSMArena!

                      This work worth many appreciations.

Yesterday, in review page of vivo X60 Pro I noticed the new feature.

At once I started to add my phones to know whether from battery side, is it the proper time to upgrade them or not.
                      Good Job!

Kudos for you guys this is really helpful!

I don't know why doesn't the 3-D model work on desktop??
It works on my android phone running Nougat (7.0), but doesn't work on my laptop (chrome or edge). Iirc it used to work earlier, but now it just doesn't show anything, but rather skips ahead to irl photos from your reviews.

                              This is so helpful! Thanks!
