Infinix Note 10 Pro appears in a leaked render with punch hole screen

17 April 2021
It will come with three or four rear cameras.

Sort by:

Tecno and Infinix, currently the go to brand if you want a ton of bloatware and ads installed on the ui. It actually beat other brands. Aside from the bloat and ads (which you cannot remove, since it is baked into their ads) You can also get malware (some of their phone models already did). Beware of phones that are too cheap.

sq2013, 18 Apr 2021Can you prove that? Are you seriously telling me that the w... moreIndustrial spying is totally different from public leaks, public leaks that most of the time aren't real leaks but rather controlled info faked as leaked to make the phone appear in new articles to have free advertisement.
Industrial spying can gather some serious information months before the public know about it, and it is in the interest of the spying company to not reveal it as otherwise the advantage would be lost.
China already have since a while most of the top secret information about the F-35 jet fighter, so getting something as simple as the notch design information is child play, mainly if it is just something overheard, which would explain why the Essential design is much more basic, as they might just have had access to a simple info like "a cutout in the top center part of the display where the camera is located, allowing to push the display around it to the very top of the phone body", which, considering the big thing that is Face ID compared to the design itself, is not the most important part of the design.
Here is a copy/past of an old comment I made, it includes dates that give more weight to my analysis :

Just to clear out some misconception people have about Essential :
        They didn't invent the notch.

For those who like smartphone history :
It is true they were the first company to sell a smartphone with a notch with the Essential Phone PH1 being announced in May 2017 and released in August 2017, and for this people assume they were the first one to make it as the iPhone X was announced on September 2017 and released on November 2017.

But I've done some research using the custom date range tool of Google Search (for those who want to try, be careful about the date as sometime what you search appear as a "you might like/related subject" of an older article, tricking you into thinking it appeared sooner than it actually did), and the rumors about the iPhone X and its design showing a notch appeared well before the Essential Phone PH1 was heard about.

Wikipedia says the founder of Essential was preparing the company in January 2017, and first appeared in a Tweet the March 27 of the same year, one of the earliest thing I can find on Google is on the "digit" website where the product page of the Essential PH-1 was "Updated on 18-Apr-2017".
But on "bestbuy" and "flipkart", Google finds a link about, respectively, a phone case and a tempered glass that it date from March 15 2017 and March 8 2017 which indeed sometime appear before the phone, but we can also find a "dbrand" skin/wrap from March 10 2017, which is why I said it isn't as reliable as we might think to only read the date Google indicate.
On the other hand, the notch design of the iPhone X was already known in June 2017, which would be way too early to implement Face ID if it was only inspired by the PH-1 4 months prior.
In fact, in May 2017 there were already design showing the easy to recognize notch on what was thought at that time to be the iPhone 8, as the 8 and the X got released really close to each other, the confusion is understandable, in fact sometime we can find early rumors and leaks about the iPhone X under the name of iPhone 9.
And while some Youtube videos like :
*"Apple iPhone 8 - Leaked photos, prototype phones, concept images, and renders | Iphone 8 Images 2017" by user "iO Tech" posted on May 19 2017.
*"New iPhone 8 LIVE | Glossy Black Live Hands-On Leak Prototypes!!!!" by user "iTech ArenA" posted on May 17 2017.
And "iPhone 8 Renders LEAKED!" by user "TechTalkTV" posted on May 10 2017.
All depict the notch as we know it, the earliest example I found is :
*"NEW IPHONE 8 DESIGN & Schematics RENDERS HANDS ON | NO Home Button LIKE SAMSUNG GALAXY S8 & S8 Plus+" by user "iTech ArenA" posted on April 17 2017 who also show the notch design.
And the design already did show the notch having enough complexity to be basically planned for Face ID, which mean it is not probably that the iPhone X notch was made because of the Essential Phone PH1.
In fact, this shift in design is clearly an answer to the Samsung Galaxy S8 who had face biometric sensors with the Iris Scanner.
The design evolution from the iPhone 7 and 8 to the iPhone X is clearly comparable to the design evolution from the Samsung Galaxy S7 to the Galaxy S8, even the names match as it is often the case in rivalry to avoid sounding less advanced than the rival products, which is probably why Apple did jump from 8 to X (10) and why Samsung jump from 10 to 20.
And not only the S8 did lose the chin mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner like the iPhone X did later, but the biometric evolution of the S8 was probably known by Apple, as prior Galaxy S models had Iris Scanning but through the selfie camera.
So the Face ID is clearly the Apple answer to the Samsung Galaxy S8 infrared Iris Scanner.

All this make it clear, Essential are the one who got inspired by Apple and not the opposite, so indeed, Apple is the creator of the notch.
And this make senses, as the notch on the iPhone X isn't just a dent, it contains some serious sensors that obviously require a lot of R&D, and even if we ignored the early rumors of the iPhone X with his notch and the renders that were already a thing well before the Essential Phone PH1, the time between the release time of the PH1 and the iPhone X doesn't give a realistic time to implement from scratch the hardware and software that come with Face ID.

I hope this was informative for smartphones enthusiasts!

AnonD-909757, 18 Apr 2021I answered that below, it actually is Apple, Essential only... moreCan you prove that? Are you seriously telling me that the world's first trillion dollar company was actually slack enough to allow a prototype design to be leaked to a mediocre company and allow that company to be the first to bring it to market? Seriously doubt that. Apple doesn't even allow their design teardown schematics to be released as they don't want people to attempt repairs of their own phones. There's nothing clearly about it. The people that designed the essential phone wouldn't get within a million miles of apple's product development plans. Some people on here just talk nonsense.

Psunuwar, 18 Apr 2021Notch was first implemented on "Essential phone".... moreWell actually I made some comments about that, Apple did invent the notch, they were working on it well before the Essential was release or even heard off, but there was already leaks about the notch, which Essential probably tried to get inspiration from.
Here is one of the earliest video showcasing a render of the iPhone X, at the time believed it would be the iPhone 8, which have the notch :
                                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXaQ6VMdqRE
All the Face ID and its software must have taken a lot of time to be done, so it is quite logic that Essential had times to release their phone before Apple, a little like how the Tupolev Tu-144 beat the Concord at being the first supersonic airliner despite copying it.

                                Indeed for Huawei though :
                                https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_working_on_smartphone_with_a_display_hole_for_the_camera_instead_of_a_notch-news-32322.php
I thought it was Samsung first :
                                https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_teases_the_galaxy_a8s_a_smartphone_with_a_camera_hole_in_the_screen-news-33896.php
Though it could be the same story repeating, as Samsung put a ToF on the Galaxy S10 which also leave time from the first leaks and industrial spying Intel to copy the base design while the brand is perfecting its more complex tech.

So it is quite hard to know, but based on how obsessed with the punch hole Samsung is...
Both were quite tightly on the same period, so it is hard to know who copied on who :
                                https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_nova_4_render_shows_a_hole_in_the_screen_for_the_selfie_camera-news-34448.php

                                https://www.gsmarena.com/notches_are_coming_to_samsung_phones-news-34116.php
But I am quite sure Samsung made it, with Apple there are accustomed now to start bad trends...

If phone manufacturers will just end up producing these phones with same looking fronts (and even backs) then they might as well use full front screen via pop-up, flip or whatever other method rather than these same looking punch hole crap

                                  Another punch hole. Yuck.

Have to say that this brand excites me a little bit. I bought the infinix zero 8i and I have to say that I was very impressed. I wanted it fppor the massive screen for watching YouTube and Netflix. It's got a very powerful chipset that can play the most intensive games and cope well even at highest settings, good battery life, fast charging and an excellent huge screen. It cost me 158 euros. When you look at the absolute trash that Nokia and LG, for example, have put out there in recent years, it's outstanding value. Their phones aren't trash at all. Not the best but very solid in build and performance. I'm struggling to see much better value. This new one is a little disappointing as they have gone again with the same Helio G90T by the look of it and although it is an excellent perforner, I would hate to see them stagnate. There's a great opportunity for them because the likes of Motorola and Nokia are stumbling along and LG have gone.
