An APK teardown suggests that Android’s “Unused apps” feature will gain more functionality.

Moving back to iOS as my daily driver after a decade being gone due to my Apple Watch. Google doesn't seem to care fixing Wear OS.

Davidariyan, 20 Apr 2021This is unnecessary "feature" we really don'... moreEspecially since this was only really problem in the past because apps were always about as fat as they are, but phone only came with 4GB of storage. Now with 128GB being standard pretty much it's a non issue.

We still waiting for wide world implementation of any new android software by Google, if we wait 1 or 2 years is pointless!

Isn't this the same concept in most chinese OEM's android skins' extreme battery saving that people complain about?

Android for smartphones and Windows for computers. iOS for tablets. Thank me later.

Still not on par with the ability to fully turn off an app from running in the background just like in Windows 10 Mobile. I mean, how hard can it be to implement such feature on Android?

One of the first apps that I always install on my phones is Greenify. Best for hibernating apps that continuously run in the background. (works with and without root)
It's so nice to see that Android is growing each day, adding features the phone geeks like me have been using for years.

This is unnecessary "feature" we really don't need. It's like we forced to keep opening an app at least every months. Even we don't use an app doesn't mean we don't need it. Everybody in this world has different personalities. With something like this google just want to invade our privacy.
Very very trash feature. I hope they don't really do this or have an option to disable it. It just annoying.

Just because we have installed an app, doesn't mean we have to use it regularly.

I know it's for enhancing security by denying permissions on rogue unused apps, but that's entirely Google's fault for allowing them to be published on the Google Play app store.

Bigmeme, 20 Apr 2021I don't know if my phone will get android 12Given how Android phone vendors treat their customers, if your phone is already 2 years old you can basically forget it. Unless if it's Samsung or Google phone.

I don't know if my phone will get android 12

Anna, 20 Apr 2021Why Google cannot simply allow to uninstall/remove the unus... moreLikely because Chrome is used as a failsafe if no other browser works. And Google wants all of your internet activity to pass through Google products - don't let them form a monopoly!! I use Firefox and a bunch of privacy extensions, on desktop and mobile. Mozilla is an excellent company.

Anna, 20 Apr 2021Why Google cannot simply allow to uninstall/remove the unus... moreWell its same with every samsung device.
You have a goole chrome brownser and you have a samsung internet brownser.
Both are just taking valuable space.
There are plenty of brownsers far better than those two or duckduckgo and cost much much less space.

This feature is already available in android 11. If you go to app section in settings, there you can see all the apps in order and if you haven't used any app for some time it will be marked as auto disabled. So what's new here, just because now you will see it more easily doesn't mean it's not there.

Why Google cannot simply allow to uninstall/remove the unused app completely from Play Store. I never use Google Chrome browser on my phone and DuckDuckGo is my default browser on mobile. Google Chrome occupies around 180-200 MB space from my internal storage which is waste.
