Last year they were still allowed to buy components until into the second half of the year. Now they can't due to the American ban. Go into a Huawei store in China and you won't be able to buy any of their p40 or mate 40 models because they are all sold out.

After those phones were sold there was nothing left for customers in need of gapps, banking apps, streaming apps. Yep, many people will tell you they dont need all of these, but for other people its mandatory.

        Also: Xiaomi! They took over the market wherever Huawei was doing great before the ban. All people I know personally who owned a huawei phone now got themselves a xiaomi. That's how the market works.

              Xiaomi market share in mainland China grow a lot last year,they pay more attention on retail store since last year(75% phone in China are sold by retail store while only 25% are sold online,Xiaomi used to focus too much on online)
              They keep No1 in India market,since China-India boarder conflict cool down recently and samsung still sell their enter level and mid range phone at a more expensive price in India market,I dont think Xiaomi will suffer many problem in India market this year.
              The growth market share in Europe is good,in east Europe countries like Russia/Urkine/Poland,Xiaomi close to No1/2 in market share.West Europe countries(GB,GER,FR,Spain and Italy) share is good too...Xiaomi wanna to sell more flagship in those countries.The Mi11 series this year is good and can fight against S21 series.
              Japan is a special new market for Xiaomi,Xiaomi's phone already hit No1/2/3 on Amazon.JP,but Japan market is more focusing on carrier sell.

Samsung and Apple had nothing to do with this and not everything that happens in the world is some sort of conspiracy by the powerful masterminds of the top 1%. And if it was it has backfired dramatically because Xiaomi is the real winner here with the biggest gains. The ban was solely caused by trade war between China & the US. humans get killed in wars and companies get killed in trade wars.

                                  - No SD card slot = NOT INTERESTED!
                                  - No unlocked bootloader = NOT INTERESTED! Keep your spying software!
                                  Getting caught lying about specifications on multiple times like:
                                  - using ancient eMMC memory instead of UHS
                                  - stealing professional photos taken with DSLRs from the net and advertising them as being taken with their phones and the list goes on..

                                  No thank you! I'm not using one of those even if you give it to me for free and pay me extra!

                                    Xiaomi is setting a benchmark for growth.
                                    So many good devices launched last year and they are doing it yet again this year.
