Computer-grade performance, but not computer-grade OS. So... no thanks, I'd rather buy a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 instead. If I want to experience the macOS life with Apple's M1 CPU, I'd rather buy a Mac Mini instead.

It's actually wasted computer-grade performance due to the lack of a proper OS.

they're interesting, nothing new about them though, microsoft tried doing what they're doing now when win10 was released. only plus for these is if the cpu performance really is good enough to make it a dockable pc you can carry everywhere. waaaay too overpriced though (typical apple profit margin grred) for a 1year disposable for the next version.

Well, it falls on what kind of road warrior here... Most of road warrior I know, dealing with servers and mechanical ports, dangling with files, are doubtful to have good faith in this. If you're talking about "road warrior" which needs to see Netflix, watching YouTube, doing some simple photo editing, well yeah, they may be interested in this.

Apple products are definitely comical and unnecessary in 2021 as long as iOS (or iPadOS) doesn't give you proper filesystem access.
This is not remotely a substitute for an android tablet or computer, unless your usage is very narrow and extremely limited.

Put macOS on the M1 iPad Pro. iPadOS is a huge limiting factor to pro use. It has the power, sure, but it could do so much more with a desktop operating system. Or fix the problem right - put that display in a MacBook Pro and get rid of the high end iPads. At the price points, they just don't make sense.

Better buy a full-fledge gaming/business laptop at this price.
Don't know why but these smartphone vendors are literally pricing their products like crazy.

The reason I'd rather have an M1 powered Mac is the price and the OS. If you want me to consider a glorified ios device over Mac device you're going to have to make it cheaper.

Have have a iPhone for my personal phone and a galaxy 21 for my work phone. The Samsung is brand new and a complete joke. Literally hate it with all my soul. I tried to get the company to switch my account to my personal iPhone as it’s simply better. However the guy at my company who takes care of all the tech related stuff is like some in this thread. He hates iPhones period, so because he hates them he thinks everyone else hates them. So he refuses to allow anyone to use them at our company... The most interesting thing about all of this is he has never touched or used an iPhone, just one of these petty people who hates them because they are expensive.
