Each has strengths and weaknesses, neither is a poor choice if the user enjoys their experience.
people can choose exactly what they want and be allowed to be happy with that choice.
I use ios and android daily, I like them both equally and I dislike them both a little too.

Mocking Apple for using 3rd parties to make phones based on design they specified, while not realizing basically everyone does this. So, how is your Android phone with Qualcomm chipset, Samsung battery, LG display, Sony camera doing? Oh right, Android phone makers aren't doing that... except they are. Only one that sort of does most themselves is Samsung which has foundries for metal parts, they have chip designing and fabrication factories, the design and produce own displays, they make speakers and microphones, modems, they have camera sensors and optics manufacturing, they produce own battery cells. It's a very rare exception among all phone makers. Apple probably being second to Samsung. Not for making things themselves, but in terms of designing and specifying things they need opposed to most other vendors who just pick off the shelf 3rd party parts and put them together. Apple pretty much doesn't do that. They order custom parts from 3rd party suppliers. Love it or hate it, but you can't compare that to picking off the shelf parts like others do it. It's just not the same.

These Mini phones, aren't as small as the original Se, or iPhone, which weren't so mini either. Is this even "smallish". I wish companies would stop using real words as marketing tools unless they are going have historical value and accuracy. The first iPhone, of flat smart phones, was in the normal range, not mini. Mini is really smaller than that, and a number are out there, but never here in recent years I think. With memory card slots too. There are some much much smaller, even watches, which you could argue are on the micro slide. To the not so big mini..

I'm 66, never ever owned a single Apple device in my whole life; this year i will do something incredible. I will buy an iPhone 13 mini. It's all i need, a compact smartphone for voice and message. Light, small and a premium feel in the hand.
I've bought Sony compact smartphones for years, but they don't release them anymore. So bye bye.
