Analysts: iPhone 12 series makes up 61% of Apple sales in the US, iPhone 11 still on top individually

23 April 2021
A year ago the vanilla iPhone 11 made up a third of iPhones sold in the US. Its sequel, the iPhone 12, now makes up 24% of sales.

For sure there isn’t anywhere this amount of iPhone users worldwide, that 1.65 billion is active Apple devices, including Macs iPads and so on.

Everyone? :D Why you find it funny? Majority of people just doesn’t care stuff like this, majority of people couldn’t care less about tech or know what 720p does mean or 4K or 8K, they might have heard the word.

This is no different than people buying smart speakers, for the audio guys those cheap smart speakers which sells a lot sound like shit, for majority they sound good enough. Or what about majority of people buying horrible looking computer screens?

I'm not saying it doesn't look decent enough, in fact, Steve Jobs showed that 326ppi was good enough for the human eye perception (in a 4inch screen) at the distance we hold our phones from the face. But truth be said, screens got bigger and in a 720p screen 6.1" screen you'll notice the pixels in text and graphics.
Still, people that buy the iPhone 11 it's mainly because it's a good price for what it offers: decent screen for mainstream iOS users, iOS eco system access for a good price, top performance, decent cameras even by today standards, top construction quality, apple top notch warranty and support. And i respect that.
iPhone 11 will continue to sell by the millions.

AnonD-994147, 24 Apr 2021There are 1.65 billion iPhone users worldwide. And another ... moreNo to mention how Android fanboys like to bunch up ALL Android devices sale numbers and compare them to iPhone sales, that are all higher price tier products.

Of course there will be more Android devices sold when majority of sales consist of 200€ devices and those 1500€ Galaxy S21 Ultras are a tiny speck in the whole sales numbers. iPhones on the other hand, until relatively recently, they were all 800€ devices and above. With iPhone SE being an outlier at much lower price point. And even with iPhones, vanilla models are the bulk of sales, those 1500€ iPhone Pro Max models have same sales numbers as those Galaxy S21 Ultras. They are the minority of sales.

So, those "hurr durr there are X billion Android devices" means very little when most of theam are cheap generic "junk" no one really cares about and they exist solely because Android just happens to be there ready to use where developing entire OS from scratch like Apple did with iOS costs billions and is incredibly time consuming process. But has many benefits and perks that you just can't have with generic off the shelf OS like Android.

And I am pretty sure, if the iPhones were not so expensive in India, the number here would have been much better than what it is now.
Anyway, not saying this to brag or anything, but just to inform the Android users that iPhones are not that bad (number wise) worldwide.
Usually, the statistics that are shown on this site are related to the number of iPhones sold each year. True, compared to Android phones sold, is lower. But this is because the average iPhone users changes phone more rarely than the Android user (so it's not buying a new phone each 1-2 years).

Because it looks good enough and they don’t care? My dad got iPhone 11 from his work and he is really happy with it, says the screen looks lot better than he’s earlier Huawei phone, which in fact had better resolution but the screen just looked worse overall.

Come out of the tech bubble :)

Typical clueless users who act the smartest in every iPhone conversation. You never heard of thing called pixel density apparently? You just scream 720p this and 720p that, not even understanding what it even means (not to mention they aren't even 720p, 720p would be 720x1280, iPhone XR has 828 x 1792 which is quite a lot more). Just ignoring these aren't massive phones and they are LCD which has different visual perception of pixels than AMOLED displays.

I also love how people rave about UFS 3.1 like it's some sort of magic bullet. UFS 3.1 is just a storage INTERFACE standard. It doesn't specify minimum storage performance and it doesn't enforce it. Phone can use UFS 3.1 and have garbage NAND chips attached to said interface. You know, to cut costs on 300€ smartphone. iPhone uses NVMe interface. Same standard as used for high performance storage on desktop computers. And it actually predates UFS. Samsung was first to use UFS on Galaxy S6. Apple used NVMe on iPhone 6, roughly a year earlier. And like with UFS, NVMe is just an interface standard. It doesn't dictate or enforce the actual storage speed. It just tells what kind of speeds NAND and its controller is allowed to achieve.

What you mean? There’s hundreds of millions iPhone users with old iPhones and yes they also steal Android users every year. Every year Apple will sell huge amount of iPhones because their userbase of close to one billion and growing. iPhone 13 will propably sell even more than 12

And the ones that do, are not going to Android related posts (especially Chinese brands). Of course, there are few exceptions of people tr0lling on those posts too, but they are far less than the other way around.
To tell you the truth, I don’t know why they are doing it, is clearly no iPhone user will change their ideas towards iPhone usage, just because a random Android person on internet told them some bad things about the iPhones.

I change to IOS because of the privacy issues of Google. I didn’t pay attention to this until I saw the releasing of IOS 14.5 and how Google and Facebook reacted to this. I did some deeper searching then, and I realised Google is as bad as Facebook when it comes to privacy, if not worse. I deleted my Facebook, Instagram accounts since 2018. Now I just took the next step and deleted my Google account and all of its related apps and moved to IOS.

According to people on this site, people will keep their iPhones for 5 years. So iPhone 11 owners won't upgrade until iPhone 16 and iPhone 12 owners until iPhone 17? iPhone 13 won't get much sales then unless they capture market share from Android, which doesn't seem likely.

[deleted post]It is unfortunate, I do not see many Applelovers in the articles that are related to Android, but almost always vice versa, I almost always limit myself to reading and observing

I don't understand what the need is, maybe the complacency of convincing himself to say that Android is better even though deep down they want an iPhone, probably that differentiates me from them, I love Android, but I don't hate iOS, it hasn't done anything to me , and I'm not frustrated with buying one like others even if they deny it (like most)

Palm Pre was a huge failure and it still left a huge impact that even Apple copied some of their ideas. The Nokia N9 was a failure. The BlackBerry PlayBook was a failure. Windows Phone was a failure.

I bet the iPhone 12 mini outsold all of them plus the Atari Jaguar (which I had), Panasonic 3DO, and even the Nintendo Wii U. The 13 mini will sell better. If not, goodbye then. Upgrade to the 13 Pro. What's the big deal? They're just phones.
