Asus Zenfone 8 will become official on May 12, promised to be "compact in size"

24 April 2021
We're expecting more than one phone, and a Zenfone 8 Mini has been rumored a lot.

I had the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra way back, a sooo nice phone. 16:9 format and 6,8 inch.

Insanitydaily.com, 24 Apr 2021I wouldn't exactly call since 2015 "out of nowher... moreYeap, I also see no point for having 888 on a small phone. 750/765/780 is more than enough. Snapdragon is a power hog, and that is crucial in small phone, since you can't put a big battery on it, only if to make it thicker. What I am really expecting from Asus is to put inside the new QuadDac from the Rog family, what would be awesome for the audiophiles. Beside LG, almost none cared anymore about the 3.5mm jack, and seeing how they are gone, Asus is the only hope right now.

Finally something exciting ( hopefully no punshhole, and reasonable compact + 3 good cameras wide, uw,tele ) to look forward.not like all the other 90% of the phones, specially xiaomi.....,which look all identical and have just 8 mp uw and no Tele and cost already up to 800 eur.
Try to replace my poco f1. Good cameras ( all 3) are high priority for me. Poco f1 with gcam was-/ is outstanding. LG g6 with gcam was amazing too but already to slow to handle gcam perfect and satisfying. Right now s20 fe 4g, snapdragon version seems the best deal.....crazy....samsung to offer best cost benefit ratio......godspeed.

salarx, 24 Apr 2021All others being pros in mobile industry, using their decad... moreYes, that's what i think. Their main selling point is PCs, laptops/gaming laptops. But in smartphone surprisingly ROG series, they bring the features from their mainstream products into their phone with some modifications. Obviously comparing the ROG phone series/ Zenfone series to others makes it rare, unique, "Quirky".

Main takeaway: Asus phones tries to become different from others that makes them "EXTRAORDINARY", bringing innovations and new tech.

That should be todays standard in the 21st Centuries of smartphone from what everybody mist think of. Innovation, trying new stuffs and going beyond limits is the true future. " Realiabilty" , "Consistency", " Versatility" and "Sustainability" is not the future. It's just delaying back the Innovation and generate more $$$.

          The main point

You cannot pair 870 with a compact phone since it requires an external modem. 888 comes with an integrated modem, which saves a lot of space.

Though I'd love to see a phone with 780g or 768g from Asus.

Find it bit pointless the ZF8 mini having SD888. They should've just had SD870 for the mini and 888 for the normal and pro

salarx, 24 Apr 2021All others being pros in mobile industry, using their decad... moreI wouldn't exactly call since 2015 "out of nowhere". ASUS have sure had some questionable design choices in their phones but no one could ever fault them for always trying!
Samsung don't need to try - this is because they pay 'independent' sites for the mind $hare.

Asus zenfone 8 series should have 5.5, 6.2, 6.7 screen sizes so they can cater to all people with different screen size preferences and all should have flip cameras

Why are the seconds unnecessary? They're quite exciting for an ASUS fan like me when the last 2 minutes of countdown come around!

I'm hyped. Looking for a sizewise comparable phone to my Galaxy A42 but with more oomph. Hope it don't misses MicroSD-Slot and a headphone- jack and is indeed not bigger than 150x70 mm. Asus should make it thicker for a proper battery. Samsung and Sony were kind of disappointment this year because of lacking compact mobiles - I'm betting on this one.

All others being pros in mobile industry, using their decades of experience and still failing at being recognized by customers. And then Asus comes out of nowhere, whose main business ain't even making phones, and still making other manufactures look pathetic. Asus is a company which makes smartphones as a hobby.

I would switch to Asus in a hearbeat if they had a thin sd888 phone with a big screen. That's what the market is missing.

There hasn't been a thin bezel big screen phone since the huawei mate20x.

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2021If it comes with ips display, we have a winner. Sad there ... moreI don't mind an ips lcd or amoled. The image quality difference is only noticeable when comparing it side by side. But amoled enables an thinner and smaller phone. Which is crucial to an compact phone. Image quality is higher too. I don't mind lcd, i am using an Poco F1 currently, and the 60hz 1080p lcd is fine with me

Jokes on other companies, but this event is the first one of the year I'm looking forward to. Asus is known for always bringing surprises to the table and not being shy at trying their hands with something new.
