An0n, 25 Apr 2021They still alive in China, yeah. And good thing there'... moreBanking apps works fine without Google over here for my country. The only thing that is holding everyone at ransom from fair competition is the lock in of communication data such as WhatsApp.
I'm a person who love tech and tries different brands. I would say Huawei does have very good product and one of it is good battery life while maintaining under 200g. Have tried the petal map and it is really really fast, accurate. Of course the Google map have more information such as reviews, menu for restaurants etc.
If hormony os were to compete, my personal preference would be having the option like the iOS 14.5 for having the choice of opting out from giving information to the apps. The current Google ecosystem is just getting more and more nuisance on the advertisements bombardment. Keep the politic propaganda aside, the real thing affecting everyone of us is the actual product performance.
Free things always most expensive. I'm wiling to pay for the apps that I actually using rather than having it free and sell my data to businesses.

An0n, 25 Apr 2021They still alive in China, yeah. And good thing there'... moreThe biggest problem Huawei have is that 90+% of smartphone buyers (in the west) just want something that works straight out of the box. Folks want to know they can go to the play/app store and download the apps they need and use regularly (I'm one of them). Sure there are a small amount of techies who love to play around with the software or find workarounds to problems on their phones but the majority of average users just want something that'just works'. To their credit they giving it a go and unlike LG they probably can survive from sales in China alone with the amount of people there that will still buy their phones and don't use Google services but everywhere else that rely heavily on Google it's a tough ask. One of their biggest problems is Xiaomi who along with their sub brands of Poco/Redmi/Mi are putting out some awesome handsets cheaper than Huawei and people love value especially at this time.

And good thing there's googlefier from xda which can be workaround those who still need Google, at some degree - I don't think all apps can work there, especially high security apps like banking.

Starting to remind me of windows phone days now, no matter what hardware you put out or how good cameras or features etc without access to play store for apps (or app store if you into iPhones) you just flogging a dead horse. Smartphones live or die by the apps available and unless you live in China that means play or app store.

MineTheDays, 24 Apr 2021Rip Huawei and Honor :(Yes my sentiments exactly, Realme and Xiaomi is offering Flagship killers at the price point of 400 USD. If they could not offer it below this price, they should reconsider backing down in the mobile industries, just like what LG did, and let the bleeding stops.

All we have to do is twiddle our thumbs while we wait for the P50 series, which undoubtedly will be the last flagship phone Huawei makes. I suppose they'll simply go into hibernation until something better happens or SMIC even catches up to TSMC and Huawei starts making the 60 series phones.
