It does sadly appear that the Mi 11 Ultra isn't quite at the same level as the Mi 10 Ultra. It's a shame, there was a lot of hype around the Samsung GN2, but despite the size difference, it's not as good as the Omnivision OV48C:

Again. Poor Sammy, can't even bring their own technology first on the market. Exactly the same thing with mi mix alpha. First phone with the s20 ultra sensor.

Stop presenting your nonsense as a fact, mate. I'm seriously getting sick of your baseless claims.

Aierlan, 26 Apr 2021What has this got to do with innovation on Xiaomi's pa... moreSome people still wrongly think clients (Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Motorola, LG, Htc, Google, Apple etc) design the sensors and pay Sony/Samsung/Omnivision to make just like the Samsung and TSMC manufacture the Snapdragon, Kirin and A chips.
Clients just say size, resolution, megapixel count and AF system they need when they want exclusive sensors.
It is like sandwich from Subway.

This is why photos from all phones look crap when you use pro monitor.
Then they have to abuse sharpning as compessation.
Just read comments on photography website, you can see how much they trash photos from phones.

Though obviously mi 11 ultra's is of the tetracell kind. I'd wait till gsmarena releases their reviews of that phone, and see the results of the full 50MP resolution.

All samsung can do is increasing the resolution.
Rumors say the 108MP for S22 Ultra is WRGB with 92MP "white" and 16MP RGGB.
Nothing new.

previously mi 11 ultra use Samsung' isocell gn 2 sensor. But in some phone reviews, the image quality of mi 11 ultra is bad and below S21 Ultra.
Maybe this time samsung want to test their 200MP sensor by using xiaomi as a guinea pig.

I'd be 200x times more interested to see a successor to the amazing 41MP sensor used in the Nokias (808PV & Lumia 1020)-a true 41MP sensor w/ bigger pixel size & great OIS & today's algos (tho I would still prefer the natural processing of the Lumia) wud be much more appreciated than these gimmicks.

Samsung is going nuts, in a bad way of course. 48-64 is more than enough for a smartphone camera, 80MP is the most you need in case you want a Tetracell equivalent of current 1 inch 20MP sensors found inside many compact digital cameras. Current 108MP is certainly overkill in terms of resolution, both the Tetracell and Nonacell variants.
There's absolutely no way that they could design a lens that would resolve such high resolution to begin with, and on top of that 0.64µm approaches to the wavelength of visible lights which would affect pixels' light collection ability. So ridiculous.
