Why would you need a mac os tablet? The m1 macs are already so portable and light.
And you definitely need a good keyboard and mouse for high quality mac OS experience. Ipad with ipad OS is great. It can do many stuff. If you want more, get a mac laptop or desktop. Don’t tell people are gonna write codes ir design 3d stuff on an ipad next

Like the author of this article said, Apple left this separation between iPad OS and Mac OS in order to sell both devices (in this case iPad Pro’s and MacBook Air).
You need to understand they just released the MacBook Air with M1. So they couldn’t just make the iPad Pro 11” better, cheaper and with Mac OS on board.
Maybe in the future Apple will decide to ditch the MacBook Air and leave only the iPad Pro’s line-up, but with Mac OS on them. And leave the more expensive MacBook Pro as the premium line-up. Also the entry level iPad and iPad Air with iPad OS (for media consumption and other basic tasks).
We will have to wait.
