hmm, 30 Apr 2021I dont know what reputation they have on the phone market. ... moreNot in the phone market, but the ROG brand has a reputation. More people are willing to buy it just cuz of that. Imagine an Alienware or Playstation branded phone. But you have to put some effort, else you'll end up like Razer Phone.
But so far, Asus has done a very good job. With the exception of Apple, no other PC brand has made it in Mobile Phone market. Acer, HP, Dell everyone has tried, but failed. Lenovo kind of tried but ended up nerfing to Moto Brand, their Z series lineup kind of is dead. They are following the Asus strategy though by using the Legion branding, but it doesn't make it. out of China that much.
Not only the ROG series, but Zenfone series has been successful too. It has great fan following, and their fans will soon reach the toxicity of Sony fans. That's a great achievement.
The last time Gigabyte made a mobile device was in 2015.

I know them as ok motherboards and graphics cards for desktop computers. Gigabyte also makes phones but they are not so known with the phones while they are known with motherboard and graphics cards also and should be older brand then the Asus is.

Banks/Financial institutions - there are Financial entities all through Taiwan named after China.
Transportation/Airports - this is one of the main giveaways - Taiwan's major airport is named with China in it.
Utility companies - there are energy companies that has China name in it.
Education
Holidays
On and on in Taiwan that a so-called independent country has it biggest land marks with another country attach to them just because they haven't got around to upgrading the name?!
