[deleted post]Yeah, you've repeated this like 5 times already. You're entirely disconnected from reality and you get super salty if Apple happens to do well in sales of more expensive devices. Get over it.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2021Apple e-store for example requires iOS13 at least. An a... moreNo, they can't. I ran Android phone with Lollipop like 2 months ago and bunch of apps refused to install already. Just blindly asuming casual users will deal with 3rd party app stores, downloading of apps from vendor websites and sideloading apps is just pretentious ignorance. Casual users only get apps from GooglePlay. If apps can't be obtained there, they won't go further and will at that point consider buying a new phone if they care about the apps so much. You Android fanatics overexaggerate the importance of apps sideloading. You're the 0.1%. But you think you're the 90%...

An android phone that no longer has software support still can use all apps.
Even old devices stuck with android 4.0, 4.2 and 4.3 can easily use all.
I doubt any iphone that support ended in 2015 can use all apps today.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2021People who buy low price phones dont care for the after the... moreAh yes, the "but apps don't run if you're not using latest iOS". I've actually checked that claim and found it to be a big fat lie. The gap is identical between Android and iOS. Roughly 6-7 years of support after device launch.

Android generally allows most apps to work down to Android 5 (Lollipop) though there are some that already don't work with Lollipop anymore. Current latest Android is 12. Which really isn't available to anyone, but lets give Android some benefit here. Between Android 5 and 12 is 7 years. Most apps these days require iOS 13 as the latest required iOS to work. iPhone 6s was released in 2015 and is still receiving latest updates and is currently running iOS 14.5. With 1-2 years of gap between latest iOS release and the last supporting most apps, you get identical end result. 6s likely won't receive iOS 15 since it's on its 5th year, but sometimes they extend things if it's popular. It's just that Apple keeps majority of their users on latest OS and pushes new stuff more, all while decreasing fragmentation by doing so. Android just gives you wide leaway between Android versions from get go and leaves you on your own after roughly 2 years per device. And even then, iPhone won't just stop working entirely. A lot of apps even today only require iOS 10. I think I only found Reddit to require iOS 13. So realistically, the gap is actually much wider. I see nothing wrong with always being on latest OS and lying they slow down isn't making anyone any favors. I've always been on latest Android versions as soon as they became available and I do the same on iOS. Phone feels just as snappy as it did new and it's on 3rd iOS iteration now. And I never experienced problems with Android either by keeping them as up to date as possible. Which is harder since you don't get many to begin with...

It took only two quarters from Apple to dominate 5G market, hilarious :D

Just shows what phones Android companies sells.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2021Sells much more of what? 120€ devices? You need to sell 8-1... morePeople who buy low price phones dont care for the after they used it for few years to sell it. Who in the right mind want to buy 2-3 years used iphone anyways as you need another same amount to pay for just battery replacement that the used phone would last you another of that 2-3 years. With a price of one iphone i get 4 new phones after 2 years each and by the time i get my 3rd phone for a year you will buy new iphone cause your updates are done and phone is basically a brick cause of it's battery life is done. Never mind that i wont miss out on anything.

There are these 2 arguments from ifans i always see as stupid. One is 5 years of updates and other is the value of the phone when you resell it. If i buy a new phone then my old phone will go back in the box and will be backup phone when something happens with my new phone i still have something to use. Never mind that i dont care much for the updates anyways as i dont buy me a device just so it's use be updates only and phones dont stop working when they dont get updated. Well actually with IOS they lose app support if you dont update cause apps stop running on older version cause that also is systematic way to make your customers to upgrade your device to a new device just to get more money out of you. On Androids there are no thing like that. When i buy android 11 phone today i get to use all apps for like 10 years cause they already support devices that run android 7 or 8 cause of the market demand.

People buy into the slick designs and easy use of Apple and their website to purchase their devices is pretty seamless. Samsungs is muddled and a bit of a mess and the user journey needs to be improved.

[deleted post]Sells much more of what? 120€ devices? You need to sell 8-10x more pieces to achieve same sales. Typical moar is better. Typical. Just like obsessing over phone specs on paper, even if phone literally has zero aftersales support. But it's the best thing on paper.

Samsung sells much more A and M than S, Note and foldables.
Xiaomi sells much more Redmi Note than Mi series.
Oppo sells much more A series than Reno and Find.

Majority of android market are sub-350 dollars phones.

There are smartphones and there is Apple. Since HUAWEI is banned from Google support and I really enjoyed HUAWEI products and I simply hate SAMSUNG eco system...and all other Chinese copmanies are just COPY CAT products (I had ONE PLUS 1, 2 and 6...today I would not buy this brand anymore)...I decided to go back to APPLE. Previous hone was HUAWEI P30 PRO NE and now I own 12 PRO...I'm absolutely happy to be back home. Everything works fine, photos are great, I can use my Google services as I did before, and I'm sure it will continue for the next 5 years if I stick to the same phone. If not it's great value to sell it further... With Android it's just not the case. I disagree that Android is crappy product as it has certain advantages and some products are great, but it does not update for 3, 4 or more years. You are stucked and you have to wait ages to get an update...You can buy pixel phone, but it become plastic mid ranger and I just hate to have plastic in my pocket... So to finish this...there are plenty of good phones out there and there is APPLE...and I'm going to stick to something that keeps promises.

A few days ago, arena released another statistics with global shipments of all phones in the first quarter of 2021:
Samsung was the first with 76.5 mil., Apple was second with 52.4 mil. and Xiaomi third with 49 mil.
If we are looking at the statistics from today post:
Apple is first with 40.4 mil., Samsung is forth with 17 mil. and Xiaomi is fifth with 16.6 mil.

That means around 22% of people bought 5G Samsung phones and 33% of people bought 5G Xiaomi phones (so technically the more expensive ones). But 77% of people bought 5G iPhones.
Of course, some people might argue that is the first year when Apple is selling 5G phones so that is why.
But, imo the explanation is that majority of people who buy Android phones go to the cheapest models (sub 300EUR ones, which majority are 4G now). And this explanation will be even more visible and correct, when in the future more and more 5G phones below 300EUR price will appear, so the percentage will increase too for Xiaomi and Samsung (even above Apple total numbers).
