    Ok. Could you please try to see if you can induce 8k recording on this and the 888 version, by use of the camera custom video profile editor on the FreeDCam App (or any others that support this, maybe Open Cam)? Also, please the maximum custom data rate?
    I don't know any app which allows 4:2:2/4:4:4 or bit depth to be tested on video. But, these are all the sort of basic things which DXOM should test, but don't. As datarate affects the quality of the video a lot at 4k and 8k. Good datarate for 4k would be 72mb/s+ for HEVC, and double that for prime quality. So, 36mb/s is just going smudge the picture a bit, and require over sharpening to compensate.

    The FreeDCam app offers an extensive array of technical camera setup options and full manual control, depending on the phone, which don't get included in the standard camera app. Including setting colour profile, tonemaps, and controlling noise and some digital enhancement options. So, a number of things which standard video camera apps fail in, can be tested against standard video camera app results, to show how well the video camera app could be doing compared to what it is doing. Maybe then, manufacturers might try to do better video camera apps. At the moment, standard video camera function, is way behind good stills function. People like to claim how good LG's was, but I still read about a lot of auto features, no 12 bit no 4:2:2 and low datarates. Prime consumer quality video is 18-36mb/s per 2 million pixels HVEC for recording. Higher datarate will become even more important, as the new NHK broadcast consumer specifications are moving towards 16 bit and better colour, which will be needed even more when displaying video on wall TV's. The present video datarate rates will look horrible on those fields of view.

          If it only came with Dimensity 1200, this phone could be the best gaming phone. I bet it is going to heat in the review like the rest of the damn 870 and 888 chipset phones.
