Anonymous, 02 May 2021It's also funny how 30% is suddenly "too much&quo... moreWell from an App developer's perspective it is not much of a case. But when you go through all the statements issued by EU(including ones not mentioned in the article), a part of this also on consumer's choice.
Prime example is Apple Music. You can subscribe to Apple Music or choose Spotify, Tidal etc.
Since the other apps have to use IAP from Apple and can't offer other alternatives, it increases the prices at the consumer end. This is anti-competitive behavior.

I’m English and I have no issues with any company or nationalities, and I love my Chinese products and friends

Apple is not taking these taxes fro... moreIt's also funny how 30% is suddenly "too much" for providing literally everything from frameworks, API's to hosting and ultimately exposure via app stores, because if you're not on official app store, you essentially don't exist. And same applies even for Android and its GooglePlay, despite 3rd party app stores and ability to sideload. People just don't do that. Should we remind everyone how much publishers used to take in the past (hint, the ratio was reversed and creator only got 30% !)? Since when has 7€ profit out of 10€ selling price became an uber bad deal? If creators had to provide everything themselves and pay a hosting fee too because bandwidth isn't free, I wonder how much that would cost them...

apple always say they give people a choice but they don’t, you can only use apple pay to make contactless payment but on android you can use loads, if you try pay for any service inside the appstore it’s cost way more then going directly to the service website you want to buy from and most people don’t know that so the end up paying through the appstore that’s the main problem Spotify trying to make here

Apple is not taking these taxes from yesterday. Why some big companies (like Spotify or Netflix) decide only now to sue them? I tell you why, because they saw Apple is making so much money so they said “We want to make more money too”. “We want a piece of that nice pie Apple is having”.
Of course, when some big company (Apple in this case) is making so much money there will always be voices saying “Surely they can’t make so much money legally, surely they are doing something wrong or unfair”. Is the type of behaviour “Why I never thought of that?”
Not to mention for smaller companies Apple even reduce the taxes to 15% in order to help them.
Like I said, these taxes are not new, but many companies decided only now to start asking questions because they do not like that only Apple is making nice money.
That is why I said they love money. The sad true is, that is not enough just to love money, you need to be smart too about it.
Bottom line, doesn’t necessarily mean Apple did something bad, it just means they thought about things before other companies (in other words, they were being smart).

Hardware vendors shouldn't sell software. Period. If the US wasn't a dozen corporations in a trenchcoat they'd tear Apple Hardware (Naturally this would include the OS) apart from Apple Software (Apps).
Because otherwise a hardware company can subsidize their own domination of the market using their software (Like Apple and Xiaomi are doing) and then if they can (Only Apple can do this, since Xiaomi phones are Custom ROM-friendly) start cranking up the prices for all services - and without competition there will be no other option for consumers than to accept their fate.
