In between the odd lag now and then, yes jelly bean is butter smooth.

For the same price you can get a one and a half years old samsung galaxy gio s5660, android froyo, 3.2” screen, 3.2mp camera, 158mb internal storage, 278mb of ram, and a dozen of problems (especially wifi). And you are talking about bad decisions of Nokia to release the low end lumia 501 ?!!

lawlee is right, this phone is aimed for developing countries where not everyone can afford an iPhone, or a high end Android or WP8 device. Actually most of the smartphone sales are lead by low to mid end phones so this phone will fare well.

150$? I would buy it without regret. Worth for basic wp experience. Worth for media and youtube. And for internet browsing. But in fact I won't buy it because i'll buy Lumia 920:)

Totally useless phone from Nokia, Zero sales worldwide. It is a very old phone, i prefer and android instead of this windows7 discontinued OS phone.

I had a chance to get a Lumia 710 really, really cheap (and it's a great phone) but couldn't make myself go for it because of no Opera Mini, no mass storage, no USB tethering and... Zune. I've no idea if my (not very new) PC would run it smoothly or it's a piece of bloatware. Anyway, I'm hoping WP8 will fix some of these issues as I really don't want Android or iOS like everyone else so the only choice I have is Symbian.

This is to target the lower class people of the world, more importantly 3rd world countries. the Nokia 1100 is the most popular cell phone ever made because it was cheap.
With all these expensive smart phones, this is an excellent marketing stradegy. That being said, I still believe Nokia should also start making android phones, along with windows phones, just like samsung and htc. other wise they will really be screwed. But yes, in this case, very smart thing nokia is doing.
