Also, the more you sell, the more profit you'll get even if you price competitively. Past two Zenfones had really limited availability. Though they were really good phones, they couldn't have IP rating, had limited supplies due to flipcam using some rare metal, and while some people were happy, other really dislike moving parts in a phone, no matter how durable it is.
Atleast with this approach, they can sell more device and cater to general user. I'm Zenfone Flip will come, but it will have limited availability and premium price tag.

It's should be obvious that there is 3 models from zenphone 8, zenphone 8 flip with no ip rating, then zenphone 8 mini and zenphone 8 pro with ip rating as there is no motorised flip camera

i know all androids are running out of idea. Nothing special in that zenfone compared to other flagships.
and also iphone running out of idea too, and in 3 to 5 years later apple will copy some android features like punch hole, refresh rate, superfast wireless charge, foldable, underdisplay fingerprint, 48 MP camera etc etc

Asus finally realized that no one cares about flip cameras. It is just a gimmick. Many people are interested but only very few ended up buying. They don't want a experimental phone after paying $800. Glad that no phone maker is using pop-up mechanisms in 2021

I hope they keep the wireless charging away and give a larger battery instead. IP rating is a nice move.

From what I've read, there's going to be 3 models - Zenfone 8, 8 Pro and 8 Flip or something. First two to have punch hole with IP68, the last as the name suggests has a flip camera without IP68.
