To just abruptly end support for these software would be disastrous, that's why an announcement is made years before it actually happens so that these machines can be updated.

Many institutions just prefer to shell out once and keep the software running as long as possible because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The lack of the budget for an overhaul is also a valid reason to keep the Flash based solutions. I've seen ATMs running on OS/2 back in 2019, could be that there's no point for the bank to invest in Linux or Embedded Windows for their ATMs?

There is big demand for programs in the medical space.
As for banking I think on the windows side they have a decent choice, but med professionals have to pick their poison with poorly designed and costly software lacking data sync options across devices.
No joke, the medical programs are a big one though :)
(I feel sorry for most docs having to put up with that cheap-looking software)

Wow - just in time! What was Flash, again?

Good riddance! Adobe Flash is about as relevant now as a resistive touchscreen phone.

YUKI93, 05 May 2021Everything is now HTML5, so no surprise with this one.Flash is not only about Internet and videos, it is also about very powerful apps that power your personal doctors computers when you go to the doctor, and those apps unfortunately the lazy devs didn't update them in years (or simply, didn't know how to, because the old devs went away)... I can tell you for Apple for example, there are not many banks, doctors, or what else using their OS for serious work.

Everything is now HTML5, so no surprise with this one.

Are you damn kidding us? It will end Adobe Flash Player!

I have Linux anyway and I get to use an almost 10-year-old Laptop.
I don't play games, I only browse the internet. Microsoft 10 makes my Laptop useless and very slow.
If everybody bought their laptop every 10 years, that would make a huge difference in technology. We pay the same price for mobile phones and companies don't bother to upgrade the technology of the next model other than just 5% which is unnoticeable.

Microsoft hasn't lagged behind in everything about theirs updates. However, on Adobe Flash each company has their time-line for when changes should be on the app and so Microsoft planned for this July not bad

I never play online games and YouTube is powered by HTML 5. So it isn't a big deal for me. Remove it and make Windows more secure and lightweight.
