Muzik, 09 May 2021Ya, we can just assume that. And yes, rog 5 DAC is more pow... moreSorry if I offended you, I mentioned the ohm part not to determine the headphone quality. These dacs have an headphone detection part which will engage higher gain mode only when a headphone over a certain impedance is connected, unless you bypass it by rooting or using adapter to create open circuit.
M50x is only 38 ohm, so it won't trigger higher gain normally, even though m50x doesn't scale well when higher power is given.

Muzik, 09 May 2021Ya, we can just assume that. And yes, rog 5 DAC is more pow... moreReally? I said it because all other 9280s support 32/384 and dsd upto 128/256 (i don't remember exactly) on actual usb dacs. 9280 series being a bigger chip actually intended for USB dacs, I don't think they would launch a version which skimp on such basic stuff.

No external memory slot?? 🤔 I hope the price will be affordable though. If the price is affordable, I'm going to change my current Realme 7 Pro to this 8 Mini! I don't like big phone even though my hands are not small. I just don't like a phone that hardly can't fit into my pants pockets!

Rkm, 09 May 2021Assuming it uses the same dac in rog 5, it's gonna be ... moreYa, we can just assume that. And yes, rog 5 DAC is more powerful and well managed through impedance and frequency. But as far as i know it didn't support 32 bit. It supports 24 bit/192 which will also effect the hi res files. I am using ath M50x and sony hi res iems so no worries about ohms. They are just perfect for my LG G7+ Thinq which supports 32 bit. So m assuming it will support rog 5 too.
Hope Asus will include sabre in ZenFone 8 series too.

YUKI93, 09 May 2021I know it would be a 12MP ultrawide with macro capability. ... moreExcept oppo did. Although it wasn't 12MP iirc. But a better dedicated macro. But yah agree. Proper ultrawide over any macro forever.

Then I'll check for the Zenfone 7 and ROG Phones 2/3/5.

OIS is helpful when taking photos under lowlight condition, otherwise you have to crank up the shutter speed or ISO which will decrease details and increase noise.

Muzik, 09 May 2021Hi Fi audio output sounds very interesting to me. That'... moreAssuming it uses the same dac in rog 5, it's gonna be es9280.

The dac is actually more powerful than the latest LG one (es9219), but doesn't fold mqa (mqa is actually in no man's land now, so it doesn't matter).

It'll always be hi-fi provided Asus implement it properly. It's just that to trigger high gain / power mode you need a high impedance (50 usually) headphone. Again, that depends on how Asus implements it.

                        Bitrates is the usual 32/384

YUKI93, 09 May 2021We don't know if this ZenFone will have the same DAC t... moreYa, we don't know that info yet. But about Rog 5 DAC, It is not the same. 24 bit vs 32 bit is still proves that Asus has a ling way to go. Yes, Rog 5 have latest and upgraded chip then LG but we can see the bits difference while listening .Flac files.
But still, i am hoping if Asus can provide a good quality DAC if they are mentioning hi fi sound. In coming days, we will have full info, i guess which will give a clear idea to make up mind to purchase this.
And just asking if this is true that flip version missed 3.5 mm jack?

Sadly Asus went the punch hole camera way. They had the last flagship without this hideous hole... But not anymore.
Give me a flagship without drop-, notch or punch hole camera.

FM radio receiver? Please let this be real! This can be a truly viable replacement for the LG V60. FM Radio support on a flagship-grade smartphone is a totally rare breed. If ASUS can give USB-C 3.1 with video output support for Desktop Mode, I will definitely be looking at this phone.

Muzik, 09 May 2021Hi Fi audio output sounds very interesting to me. That'... moreWe don't know if this ZenFone will have the same DAC that ASUS uses in the ROG Phone 5 (ESS Sabre ES9280AC Pro Quad DAC), but the DAC in that gaming phone is exactly the same type LG use on their flagship V-series phone.

I know it would be a 12MP ultrawide with macro capability. It would be rather crazy for anyone to put a 12MP standalone Macro camera.

Asus doesn't provide Liquid Cooling feature in its phones. So they won't be successful. Absolutely No to a gamer.

Hi Fi audio output sounds very interesting to me. That's my top priority. But it would have been a good idea if they have provided the full information on that like
                                        1. What chip they are using eg. ESS Sabre?
                                        2. What will be the bit rate eg. 24/32 bit?
                                        3. What will be the minimum requirement to fire HiFi like 20 ohms or so?
                                        4. If its just a HiFi volume enhancers or a DAC?

I am very much interested in this mobile but for me a good quality audio output is first priority. I am using LG G7+ THINQ which is still gave the best, clear and loudest sounds.
