If only ASUS was as good with software support on phones as they are with software (BIOS) on their motherboards, I'd actually consider it. This doesn't look bad at all, though I'd prefer the flip cam like it was on old model. I don't need selfies so I'd permanently have a full display without any interruptions. But I guess that's gone now...

finally a perfect size phone . the hole and no telephoto zoom lens is weird . i hope Asus do something about there slow os update policy !

Other manufacturers get stabilization wrong despite having OIS.

Phones like OnePlus 9 do a great job without OIS and it shoots videos through Ultrawide, so we get pretty stable footage.

But sure at long shutter speeds it often really helps a lot and also during the day there is a lot of scenes that can trigger shutter to 1/6 or worse. Quad bayer sensors are nice to get better exposure in dark scenes but that never ever replaces a good ois.

I believe Asus Zenfone Series means flipped cammera, if Asus work as apple they would be more successful, as you see asus have same design but changed the shape, but most importantly the flipped camera was amazing and now they want to put that away
Asus dont need to think different they just need make it better and work better on what they have

Just taller 2 cm ... I think funny how some people say it is too narrow.
Also 5iii is 6,8 cm, wider than XA (6,68).
Nobody complained XA was too narrow.
Nobody makes critics against the 21:9 motorola nor the 25:9 Z Fold 2 outer screen.

Not necessary for 1/8s, not enough for more than 1s and harmful for video.

But it's 2021 now, the bigger sensors with big pixels size seems to make up for the lack of OIS, because they don't need a very long exposure anymore since the sensors take more light and a Snapdragon 888 have a better ISP than the older Snapdragons.
For video stabilization tho, OIS seems to be very important, especially at night, soft videos and micro jitters everywhere.

It's good that they've brought the jack back. This is too small imo so hopefully they've also brought the jack back for the main ZenFone 8 too
