Dudenoway, 05 Jun 2021Well I wasn't wrong bc the average Joe would only look... moreAnd this is a huge issue that people don't care about privacy, it isn't just affecting them, it affects everyone.
The issue with spying is that many apps cheats with permissions, as you need way less than most people imagine for gathering a lot of data about someone.
Spying is totally different from just collecting user habits in order to make ads relevant, is often illegal and hidden and can have serious consequences.

AnonD-909757, 11 May 2021And another one who still has no clue how all that work and... moreWell I wasn't wrong bc the average Joe would only look at normal specs like chipset, camera, build quality and battery and not if it has under display camera or pop up camera plus u already know that Google is spying big time on you also I chcelced permissions on apps in my phone and Google literally had body sensors enabled idk what it does but yes I can't disable it cuz they say Google won't work properly even though I use Google all the time also literally half of people who own phone have no idea their getting spyed so...

Dudenoway, 11 May 2021And the privacy/pop up drama begins for the 50th time like ... moreAnd another one who still has no clue how all that work and who don't understand that things like identity thief which is quite common happen to normal people and that it is highly related to privacy.
Nor that private data is now the main source of revenue of many companies over the ads or the paid services they offer.
Nor that the underdisplay camera trend want to spread like fire despite all the cons and better solutions existing, and will leave no choice, making the "just buy another phone" argument making matter worse.
Nor that said person act like those who made the pop-up disappear, and literally try to shut someone fighting for what he like and then say to "buy another phone".

And the privacy/pop up drama begins for the 50th time like if u want privacy then just go and buy another phone and no they will only spy on u if ur not a normal user normal user or kids won't get spyed idiots and why would they just make random pictures,

Evlo, 11 May 2021I agree with that however mic can spy on you in much worse waysDoesn't mean the camera should be forgotten.
I also advocate for physical microphone killswitch, which OnePlus with its Alert Slider prove it is doable on a phone without issues to have such slider.

Anonymous, 11 May 2021It's paranoia and you need help.It is proven facts, that did happen a lot of times, and you need a reality check.
If you REALLY think NO APPS AT ALL do spy on you, sorry, but I am not the paranoid one, you are the one who live in fantasy land, just go to Google News and type "Privacy" and tell me it never happens.
Even filtering it to one week :
            https://www.google.com/search?q=%22privacy%22&tbm=nws&tbs=qdr:w
ILLEGAL data collection is constant, and the front camera isn't spared, in face it may be one of the worst privacy offender.
Constantly looking at you, and you never know when an app do decide or not to take a sneak pic, which is a FACT that it happen.
Here is an example (yes, I won't bother searching for a better one, do it yourself)
            https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2020/01/19/android-users-beware-these-top-camera-apps-may-secretly-be-spying-on-you/
You, ignoring something, doesn't mean it isn't true.

wongwatt, 11 May 2021Banging the pop up drum again - nobody is going to bring th... moreNo, they sold SUPER WELL.
But only few were made, and they got bad advertising and people started to talk nonsense about them, scarring people away.

You know what's happened when pop up camera were first introduced?
They popped up in many websites and apps, including a Chinese app that is basically mandatory for Chineses.
Proving that the front camera is actively used by A LOT of things to take sneaky pic of the user without him knowing nor consenting, and clearly outside user agreement contracts.

The Chinese government also asked Huawei to provide them access to such data to track down Uyghurs, providing definitely that it IS actively used at negative intents.

In a world where not month occur without a Facebook privacy related scandal and not a single week goes without a privacy, user spying and illegal users data collection, how does this need to be repeated again?

What I really fail to understand is who you think is spying on you through your phone camera and how?

The same way IP rating thought as total waterproof + lack of water damage warranty claimed more phones than no IP rating at all or even pop up who are supposedly more fragile against water.
                      It is a cognitive bias.
