None of Apple's AirPods or HomePods support lossless audio

Even plugging in the AirPods Max with a cable doesn't work.

Apple will invent a dongle that will allow their products to play their lossless audio, it will cost only 499$.

  • AppleHardcoreFanboi

Don't worry, they will have it on Airpods Pro Max Plus XL Premium Edition collaboration with Snoop Dogg, and it'll ONLY cost $9999. Such an innovation isn't it?

Apple: We are delivering super hi-res 500 Exapixel photos!
Real world: No computer can handle that

  • JustSomeRandomGuy

Imagine being an Apple fanboy and bragging that Apple supports such innovative feature such as lossless audio but literally no Apple product actually supports such feature yet other phones such as LG, Sony, and others have had it for years

goes to show how useful the so called "ancient technology" that is the headphone jack really is. Apple the hypocrites

They should call it Apple Senseless.

davidtb823, 18 May 2021I wonder what IS more important to people. A headphone jack... moreHeadphone jack. As No company (Apple included) covers water damage, I would rather have something I could actually use and rely on it. All these ratings are there to tell you , that if by accident your phone gets wet, it could survive. If by chance it doesn't , then they aren't responsible. Yes, that's how it works. Also waterproof requires complete seal of body, along might be proofing inner components to water damage too. That's not possible with glass back (a popular choice right now) which breaks. And once it breaks or even cracks, then your phone is no longer safe. So , at best these phones are water resistant , not waterproof. So removing a completely functional component to sell a half made solution, which they will not honor in warranty, is a pity excuse at best (that if you were to believe, it was done with your in mind). Believing such nonsense is bad move for us (customers) , cause that allows the abuse to continue.

Anonymous, 19 May 2021keep reading ASR lol, measurements are not everything.Measurements are measurements in given conditions and Scientifically experimental relevant, how ever neither its all mesured (IMD and its variance) nor measuring conditions meet real usage one. In the meantime there isn't anything better. Don't worry they don't like my rhetoric on ASR but as long it has logic coherence they have to put up with it.

davidtb823, 18 May 2021I wonder what IS more important to people. A headphone jack... moreFunny thing is Apple's argument with IP ratings justifying the removal of phonejack, they are sued in Brazil (IIRC) for misleading IP ratings.

Why? Becos' apple refused to honour warranty repair if iphones are found with any water damage, even when there's no cracks or dents on the phones.

I smell AirPods Pro 3 Max is coming

I wonder what IS more important to people. A headphone jack, or IP-waterprooffy thing? I know a waterproof headphone jack could be possible, but for mass production, I doubt it would be sustainably waterproof. 10000x of the old in and out would make anything...leaky.
I've never been much on mem management, chip speed and whatnot, so I'd rather just have huge storage on-board, it should be faster too.

Woohoo, 18 May 2021I think u r basing it on something like this?- https://www... moreI actually own that setup. And yes, there are many other options available depending upon your budget as featured in the link that you shared.

Things would have been if Bluetooth SIG wasn't headed by boomers who refuse to acknowledge good codecs like flac and opus or care to increase spec to point where transmitting such codecs would be possibru. As much as Apple would like to brag about its w1 chip, down to earth airpods are still bluetooth (unless apple decides to implement something of their own, some other mode for iphones or sth) and face same limitations. A CD quality flac would need about 800-1000kbps, and this isn't possibru right now for whatever reasons. And opus (lossy codec unlike flac) running at 400-500 kbps can be done , but that requires action from BT SIG to ensure it's supported across industry. But as I see, that might not happen as that interest group is composed by people, who have a self congratulating circle of how they remove cables, not thinking what happens next. I do really hope, BT dies and gets replaced with better wireless technology.
