Asia-Pacific 'el-cheapo'?! LOL
================================
Must be an American who made that statement!!!
I really don't like Nokia's latest designs, and having used a Nokia N73 I can't say I'm a Nokia 'hater', just not an active supporter.
Back to the whole APAC thing: I'm using a Japanese DoCoMo SH905i and let me tell you, it kicks ass over any European or American phone out there: HSDPA, Dolby Mobile sound, 16 M 840x854px (WVGA) screen, 3.2Mpx camera, GPS & Felica (Money-IC) etc.
Taiwan and HK are also releasing their SHARP SX862/WX-T92 which is the equiv of 920SH by Softbank.
Amongst those handsets you still get your regular HTC (Taiwanese) PDA-style phones which have always been popular - and yet they are anything but cheap!

I also like Nokia. I have 2 phones Nokia, but except 6500 classic, 6300 and 7900 I think that all other nokias are really ugly in design. but I don't like desgin of samsungs too, and sony ericsson too. In the end we need better designers in all phone brands except motorola.

Yeah, what a great statement you just made. I think that SE fans are probably the most defensive of their brand, since every comment on Nokia forums are usually praising SE and talking crap about Nokia. I am a Nokia fanboy, but I don't hate SE. And yes, Nokia phones looks bulky (and lately uglier than SEs and Samsungs), but I think there's more to Nokia that those blind fanboys have to trashtalk about.
There's absolutely no reason for praising any brand fanatically, henceforward bashing any brand is also a stupid and childish thing to do.
And my personal comment on these phones are:
I'd say they are modern, a step ahead of other Nokia designs. Not that beautiful yet, though. But still deserves some props, they're not as ugly nor bulky as other Nokias. Samsung and LG are the most beautiful phone designers lately, I think. And SE is also climbing up that ladder, huh?
P.S. Does anybody agree that Nokia should make N82i with metal casing, thinner body and bigger keypads? Maybe an FM-transmitter as well (like N78)? Haha, just wondering.

The way people post at GSMArena sure has changed over the last 3 years. Before, most people talk positively and not too general.
Take the user below for example (ibp6). Where did the opera mini came from. That person is defending nokia too much as if it is his/her life. There is a person below him/her that mentioned about opera but its refering to the PC version and has nothing to do with phone apps. Post without thinking?

It seems all comments on GSM Arena have to obey the following rules: (1) Whatever phone is being talked about is rubbish, other phones are much better. (2) All low price phones are rubbish because they don't have all the latest features. (3) Don't bother saying anything specific or positive, just talk about how rubbish the current phone is.

I guess the recent [last 3 years'] Nokia line up is the Internet Explorer of phones. Popular but still a major drag when it comes to functionality, durability, resource consumption [battery as such]. Whereas Samsung is the Firefox and Sony Ericsson is the Opera among phones. Durable, functional, slick, fast and over and above of all ... SECURE.
Some run after brand names and some after specs. The greatest pity of these days is that, in an ocean of over-confident [hence ignorant] people, successful marketing leads to huge sales [hence huge turn-over] and not the contants within "the package". And God knows what's wrong with people today -- they run after Apple Air ultra-compact notebooks but love ultra-bulky jack-of-all-trades Nokia cell phones. This is something that might be compared to the fact that you can't sell US made cars in China as they don't reach their high fuel and environment standards. PITY is the only choice of the moment. Pity on Nokia. I miss the good-old Nokia that made the 7110.

I have to admit, Nokia has come up with some pretty designs before.. but i don't think this is it.. these designs are just too plain.. but still pretty.. just pretty.. beautiful is just too big a word to describe them. take n70 for instance, it was an instant hit with the women and women are usually more attracted to design than the functions..

I have and I like Nokia phones. It's a great phone when it comes to fucntionalities, performance & ease of use, but it is not beautiful at all, and neither are these new ones. So I don't know what makes Nokia think that these ones are beautiful. Maybe what's wrong is, they don't look at other phones, so they are left clueless that their phone looks outdated in design and build compared to other popular phonemakers like Samsung and LG. But I say that Nokia phones look better than SE's.
