I use the original Redmi Note 8 and here is what I think should have been different about this device:
1. a slimmer camera and slimmer display bump
2. aluminum frame
3. a telephoto and a tof lens instead of macro and depth
4. 20:9 aspect ratio and removed chin (and redmi sign)
5. Oled panel with AOD and super wallpapers
6. better gpu and bringing back the blur effect
7. Optical image stabilization
8. usb 3.1 port with ufs 3.1 storage
9. earpiece speaker acting as dual speaker
10. solid non-gradient color options

Guessing this will be very cheap - RN8 was a great budget phone, but with this processor and camera it's not going to compete at the same price point. €120 or less for 4gb/64gb and it will sell well (consider that I bought a Redmi 9 3gb/64gb for a relative for £69 from Xiaomi UK recently)

Mampara, 22 May 2021They should replace those 2 useless 2mp cameras with a 5mp unit.or even better replace 2mp macro and 2mp depth with 1 telephoto camera because it more usefull that gimmickly 2mp macro and depth.

Anonymous, 21 May 2021Xiaomi is the only brand who makes its phones worser than p... morei don't think that people that own RN8/8T will buy re-released smartphone, yeah maybe it will be faster a little bit due to G85 and UFS 2/2.1 storage but i'm sure newer one will shot worse videos and photos because Xiaomi can't optimize their software for Mediatek as they do it for Qualcomm chips. And waterdrop notch in 2021 lol.

Xiaomi is the only brand who makes its phones worser than predecessors.
Original one has SD 660 processor which was weak but this one has a calculator processor. Even worser than SD450.
But yeah, will be sold again as much as 25 milion.
Previous owners waiting for it.

gringo, 21 May 2021MTK SoC means = poor custom rom developement, limited andro... moreI think worst thing about Mediatek SoC's in Xiaomi smartphones is that photos have bad dynamic range and videos often muddy, without much detail, constant change of exposure. Xiaomi clearly can't optimize it.
