CEO: the OnePlus Nord CE 5G will be unveiled on June 10, Nord N200 5G coming soon too

27 May 2021
The Nord CE will be available in Europe and India. But is it the Nord2? It doesn't sound like it, CE stands for "Core Edition".

        On Aliexpress OnePlus Official Store there is an article since May 12th that appears and seems to be a draft to prepare a launch (very high price). It's called "new Oneplus Nord" in details you can see 8G/128G, 48mp main camera, 2 backs camera, one 16mp front camera, 4300mAh battery and 30W charge, 6.2 inch 2400x1080, type C, No IPrating, No jack 3.5, 2SIMs. No more informations. I don't know if these informations are correct or if they match with a Nord "Core Edition". We will see soon.

              @gsmarena

              Crossed my mind that CE could stand for Core Edition, only what's needed from a today's phone and no fancy camera or features. Just a thought.

                sq2013, 27 May 2021What's wrong with the OnePlus Nord 2 or the OnePlus No... moreFor everyone making fun of your comment I suggest they try understanding the simple point you making which is that you should be able to recognise a phone model simply by its name and model number, not be left wondering is this phone newer, better specced etc? I agree with you bout apples simple naming scheme and Motorola used to have the E=entry level, G=mid range and X=high end so it was easy to know what kind of phone you were looking at. Phone manufacturers now seem to just throw random letters and numbers together in such an incoherent manner that the name doesn't really tell you what kind of phone it is and also another annoying thing lately is the trend of downgrading specs on supposed 'new' or 'upgraded' models which again Motorola started by putting 720p screens, plastic backs and inferior chips in their G series phones. When you look to buy a new model it's so annoying when the spec sheet is worse than the model you already have! Anyway rant over, peace guys ✌️

                  sq2013, 27 May 2021What's wrong with the OnePlus Nord 2 or the OnePlus No... moreThe Nord CE 5G will more be like a successor to the Nord N10 5G from last year. There will be a Nord2, a truly successor to the original Nord, but expect it for July/August.

It makes more sense than Samsung's FE at the very least. Fan Edition doesn't describe the product at all, and some people would consider "fans" to be people that WANT the fancy stuff, not just the Core elements. If you should be knocking anyone, it would be Samsung. However, neither of them are actually worth bashing, you're just reading the headline, incorrectly guessing what it means, and then nitpicking for no reason.

                                    What's wrong with the OnePlus Nord 2 or the OnePlus Nord 2021? Why do they think putting in CE is going to help anyone? A product should be clear from it's name. There should be a logic to it. The successor can simply be called 2 or second edition. If people are going to have to go to the trouble of finding out what CE means and then when discovering it stands for core edition, they will still be confused. They have to find out what they mean by core edition. I hate apple. I really do but I can't deny that their naming scheme is so user friendly. iPhone 12 so it's an iPhone 12. iPhone 12 mini so it's a smaller version of the iPhone 12. iPhone 12 pro so it's a more advanced version of the the iPhone 12. iPhone 12 pro Max so it's a bigger version of the more advanced variant of the iPhone 12. Through gritted teeth, I have to admire that. Logical, consumer friendly, descriptive and easy to understand. Then you have this OnePlus core edition. Means nothing. Kudos to apple. I hate their pricing and their restrictive practices but in terms of branding, positioning and marketing, they're miles ahead.

                                      OnePlus were doing so well with their naming scheme, and now they've gone and thrown it all down in the sewers. Disappointing...

                                        And there goes OnePlus under the BBK's naming madness. OnePlus was ok because they essentially had 2 models per year. Now they have 5 with nonsensical naming schemes that make less sense with each iteration.
