Last year it wanted to quit this market, but things have changed.

The difference is noticeable in videos, even more in HDR videos
I know it can get screen burn ins but it's not a TV anyway, so the screen usually doesn't show a static image for hours, I would personally not buy an OLED TV, normal LCD, QLED or microLED.
When playing a game on a phone the game UI might be quite static but at some point a PUBG match will end, or you can rotate the phone in the other landscape.
People who want to use their phones as a GPS better buy one with a LCD display.

I'm glad there is a choice for consumers over whether they want an lcd or amoled panel on their phone but I don't think the average consumer is tech savvy enough to know the difference. Anyway, amoled displays are usually still reserved for premium phones while lcds are usually found on budget phones. I think the highest grade lcd display can only be found on Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. As budget phones start utilising more amoled displays, we may see a drop in the price of lcds. I don't think Samsung expected Xiaomi and other companies to sell so many phones with lcd displays. Samsung was all in on amoled even on their budget phones.

I'm using a phone with an lcd display and, frankly, it doesn't seem that much different from the amoled display on my wife's iPhone.

Samsung you cheek bastards, the price hike is convenient for your profit margins I see

So you can't keep up with Chinese production but this temporary price hike gave you a little glimmer of profit

                    Business is business

Miniled will overtake OLED popularity in the TV space in a few years easily, have some credible analyst seek that direction

But the newness of miniled has caused a little price bump for now..

Many people want lcd cause its cheaper, stable and good enough for everyday use. Also can get better camera, soc, faster charging or something else for the same cash like phone with amoled, which doesn't have that.

And so we're witnessing planned obsolescence in the making, with manufacturers trying to phase out far better developed LCD, in favor of discardable screens, aka oled.

Technology advances, but phones get worse. Completely pulverized market with a million phones with ever lower life spans. We're getting batteries which are pushed over the limit of the technology to purposefully limit their life span, and soon all screens will also follow the same model: super bright screens that push over what the technology can stand and last a couple of months at best at their rated specs before burning themselves out into scorched earth.

Welcome to the future. And forget about owning a phone for more than 18 months.
