Anonymous, 12 Oct 2012Meh, 8GB will do. Nexus 7 has small internal memory without... moreHighly unlikely.
This time if rumours are true, its using one of the latest CPU/GPU combos.
The Nexus 7 did not.
High reolution screens at this size are more expensive to produce.
Small high capacity batteries are more expensive than the larger ones that can be fitted into a 7" tablet.
Sure the phone can be priced agressivly when considering the specs.
But it can't be prices so agressivly that it can be considered a cheap phone. There are lots of cheap phones out there... really cheap ones even, from several of the big manufactors.
In the tablet segment, there were very few cheap tablets (from small manufactors), and not really any really cheap ones, so the Nexus 7 faced a lot less competition, and with much better circumstances to keep the price at a cheap level.
At the best, this can be a close to top level smartphone, priced as a top medium segmet level for new phones. (when you start adding last generation top models with hugh price drops to that medium segment, the competition will be hard for the Nexus 4)
But sure, Google don't want a lot of storage in there, as they want people to use their cloud services.
Its just that this time around, adding more storage will make a lot lesser of the total percentage of the price, than it did with the Nexus 7. It will simply be a lot more difficult to justify that sacrifice.
And also keep in mind, a mobile pretty much has to have to camera modules, with the back one taking decen picture, the Nexus 7 had one, that did only have do do video-calling ok.
Another place they cut corners for the Nexus 7.
And well, then there is the whole GSM/HSPA/LTE radio and antenna cost added to the whole thing.
It will be a pretty good phone, for a good price (not great price).
It could potentially sell more than any of the previous Nexus phones, as this will probably be marketed harder (as for every new generation before it, the marketing will grow, as googles interest to reach normal customers has grown for every generation)

Esk, 12 Oct 20128GB expandable would be fine. 8GB non-expandable would be awful.Meh, 8GB will do. Nexus 7 has small internal memory without expansion memory slot, but it gains popularity, because the price was insanely cheap.
If LG can do that then this phone may champion the market, even killing LG's flagship.

Apart from internal memory, this phone is good overall. If price tag is somewhere $300-ish, it will sell like a hot cake.
