To write a programme on an Operating System, you need the SDK from the Company that "made" the OS (SDK: frameworks, libraries, header files, compilers, debuggers, and various other tools, such as profilers, etc.) and an IDE (an Environment for Developing applications). That's what all the new HarmonyOS 2.0 Developers get from Huawei.
And so did that IT expert from Arstechnica and came to the conclusion, that's basically a relabelled Android 10 AOSP.
You think there will be major changes (SDK, IDE, etc.) within 4 months? :D

Read this Article: https://ars... moreI can't count how many times I was referred to this article by other people and had to explain that it only scratches the surface of what it could possibly be or become. Long story short, simply looking at some of the UI design or the specific Android OS features through an remote emulator won't get you to any conclusion since it's blindingly obvious at this point that HarmonyOS employs some sort of AOSP compatibility layer so that all the existing Android apps can run without any issues (Hell, it's Huawei themselves who made that statement in the first place). Moreover, this article is already 4 months old at this point of time - there are already some native Harmony apps that can only run on HarmonyOS released by several Chinese companies. Simply put, it's both factually inaccurate in many area and severely outdated at the same time.

WhyNegative, 02 Jun 2021Tiny part of it only 🤣😅It's 1:1 copy of the almost 2 years old Google Android 10 AOSP. Huawei only changed some labels (names) in the Android OS and the Android SDK (IDE), to make it look like it is a "new" OS, which isn't at all.
