Also, why did they change the compatibility when Monterey is basically Big Sur
+a cursor feature
+the Shortcuts App
+Safari Updates that will come to Big Sur and Catalina as well.
It‘s the same sh*t as before just like iOS 15, but that one does not drop the iPad Air 2 from 2014. And while that still gets updates, all MacBooks from the same year are now obsolete (except for 2 years of security updates)

I thought it was called MacOS Monterrey (it is the capital of the state of Nuevo Leon in Mexico), but it is Monterey (a city in California).

The discontinued Macs from today can go above 500€. Imagine you just bought a late 2013 15 inch MacBook Pro that’s all fine and then this small update casually drops it from software support.

I can't imagine not getting updates after some point for a laptop that I paid over $1500 for (at least).

My laptop is 12 years old and works with latest version of Windows 10. Everything is very simple. You can format everything and install any OS and any version you want. And Windows is more secure and stable than it was.

I didn't watch the apple release today, but I was expecting this kind of move from them. It was kinda obvious what they are gonna do, since they switched from x64 to ARM, so this way they could like 'a universal os' between different devices. It's not a bad move but neither innovative in my opinion, since there are a few apps that let u do same things with windows/linux and a tablet or android.

So sad how many Macs got dropped from software support again. How is it that apple is by far the best in the business when supporting phones and tablets, but the worst with computers when every core 2 duo can run any version of windows or linux.
