I have already doing this manually for a long time. u need to take many astro pics and combine them together using google photos "create animation" works like magic and u have much more control and u also can control the length of exposure. it doesnt need the full time and u can stop it when it shows its stable and it still saves the result

Also we should be comparing iOS to stock Android found on Google's own phones, not pick and choose best features from 100 different vendors using their implementations of things and then brag how advanced is Android is as whole. That's literally comparing Apples to Androids...

          Pixels are my favorite phone series. I own the Pixel 3 and it's my favorite smartphone ever. No longer the LG G5. I have my Google Pixel 3 at #1 and iPhone 12 mini at #2. I need wireless charging and they have it. My Pixel 3 still runs well after 2 years.

          My next phone will be a Pixel but I'll get the foldable one. Something different. I stick to the makers of the OS. The smoothest experience. Then I can go to a store or repair shop to get the battery replaced. More unpopular brands are a headache to get fixed.

            The time lapse is just 1 second or less. They should offer an astro mode that takes as long as you want. A very long astro mode would be also very useful for a periscope camera.
