The Android 12 beta is the most downloaded beta in Android history "by far"

A major redesign to the interface and the first beta being available to phones other than Pixels probably had much to do with that.

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2021Could this be an indicator that Android 11 is underwhelming? I agree. Android 11 has been nothing but a weak update. I cannot wait for Android 12. Otherwise I would have quite happily rolled back to Android 10.

    I think HarmonyOS will be the only upgrade for Huawei devices, it should be comparable to Android 11 or 12 dependent on how Huawei is doing it. This is how ever a welcome upgrade and I hope Google takes wisdom from this and start to support older 64bit devices to...

No. Inasmuch as Google's vanilla android is the 'original' version of what android should be, I am not liking many of Google's vanilla Android design decisions. In Google's vanilla Android 11 for example, you cannot get rid of that stupid bottom center bar that wastes so much space and causes screen burn-in, a reminder of Google's Apple-envy (copying a worthless iOS 'feature'). In Google's vanilla Android 11, you also CANNOT hide anymore the status bar and navigation bar via ADB commands. And in Google's Android 11, you cannot manually select GSM, WCDMA, LTE and 5G/NR bands to your liking. All those great features are possible with Samsung's OneUI 3.1. So between Samsung's bloatware and Google's bloatware? I'll take OneUI EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

              Oh I bet that for every beta the "most downloaded" always applies, so this is irrelevant news

                  Nothing worked. Search didn't work, my outlook didn't work, authenticator didn't work, chrome didn't work. I had no choice but to downgrade back to 11.

                      All I want is to be able to remove the Google search bar and the "At a glance" widget from my home screen. That's all. Why, why, why isn't that possible?

                        In case you've been living under a rock for the last few years, or you've been using an iPhone, the answer is yes, you can disable/freeze and even uninstall any kind of 'system bloatware' with just a few lines of code + adb (no root needed).
                        Just be careful not to do it with critical system apps or your phone will go into a bootloop (fixable with a hard reset from recovery).
                        Go study some programming/computer science before embarrassing yourself!
