Anonymous, 21 Jun 2021Google make money by tracking and targeting you with ADS ,,... moreNope not a single advert inside the OS anywhere on stock Android, so no that's wrong LOL, try again. Google tracking and ads are on websites and in-apps modes from "free" apps on playstore, the vast majority of free apps are trash anyway and if there is any utility to any free app you are not on that app all the time to see said ads. Free means mostly trash unless by developed Google or your Phone's OEM like Samsung providing basic apps. That's been the rule of the playstore from day one. If you didn't know that it just shows you are not fit to use a smartphone. As for fitness trackers/GPS, you can turn them off, so nope try again. PRC trash will always struggle to defend their commie BS with excuses but no amount of excuses will be cover for the blatant tracking and ads all over the OS itself lol pathetic =))

Hahaha Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Realme, this me that me are all PRC garbage, if you want a clean experience without bloatware, tracking, ads, other hidden PRCware and commie BS choose Samsung/Pixel/Sony maybe Motorola while it still stick to using Android One. Harmony OS and similar BS are best left to the demented.

In US, so many people locked by contract.

European market is great, a few phones are expensive than their price in India, China or US, but atleast great choices are available

They are private companies so they don't have to make this information public. According to Chinese media, Oppo was the only registered shareholder of Oneplus when Oneplus was set up. However, I also don't know this for sure as you would need to see memorandum of association of the company (or whatever the equivalent is under Chinese law) when it was set up to see the initial list of shareholders. There is no evidence though that there has been any change in shareholdings owned as far as I've seen at least. There are also a number of ways a company can rearrange their business without transferring shares. If companies are in the same chargeable gains group for example they can transfer assets on a nil gain nil loss basis between group members. Also the trade and assets could be transferred from one company to another without a change in share ownership. The ownership of assets could also remain the same but they could just make a deal to integrate their business operations more. Basically, if they were a public listed company this information would have to be published but as a private company it doesn't. I also don't think you really understand ownership. Even if you own a company (over 50% will give control, you don't need 100% ownership), as long is it is a separate company the company's management is responsible for running that company. Shareholders can make certain decisions by vote at a general meeting (e.g. to remove directors and approve dividends) but are generally not involved in the day to day business decisions (unless they are also directors of the company).

Aierlan, 20 Jun 2021Owning a company doesn't mean it's one company. O... moreThen I'll make it easy for you. Oppo is fully buying all oneplus shares. So now it won't just own parts, but the whole company.

Let's say you and me own 50% shares of your fantasy girlfriend. Now I buy your 50%. Is she mine now, or are we still sharing parts? It's not that hard to understand, that a company fully buys another partly owned.

ColorOS will be ColorOS and the single one, maybe with some addition from OxygenOS but forget get a lighter UI from Oppo. OxygenOS fans are a minority in the BBK scene. In the end OxygenOS will be pushed aside and forgotten.

The Chinese Oneplus phones already use ColorOS (They used to use Hydrogen which had material design elements but nothing like Stock) and overall it has been demonstrated that stock android hardly matters among the general public. So I think in the end Oneplus phones will end up running ColorOS.

Here's what I think will happen with the OS. Color OS will bear similar functionalities to what OOS is currently also in terms of look and feel and overall aesthetics.

Once Color OS is 80-90% similar to OOS, OOS will borrow leftover functionalities from Color OS and it will eventually merge. This will happen over time not in a fortnight maybe over the course of 2-3 years but it will definitely merge.

What I am interpreting from Oppo's vague response is OxygenOS will still exist for a year or two before fully integrated with ColorOS, in most extreme case Oppo and Oneplus might even use a new co-developed custom UI. Whether the new custom UI will be the same stockish Android as OxygenOS or not, we will just have to wait and see since Oppo is clearly not forthcoming with its future plans.
