        I work for Vodafone and I gotta say what the hell is the point of all this? iPhone is just another marketing gimmick by Apple to make a sub-par product that sounds revolutionary.

        Apple = charlatans

        I'll just hold out for the N96, thank you very much...

          If the rest of the world is anything like the Irish market, anyone hoping for a cheap iphone is going to be unpleasantly surprised. Vodafone have a habit of jacking up handset prices, along with anything else they can jack up. And of course there's a problem with congestion in India, there's a problem with everything to do with population in India. This is all smoke and mirrors, this iPhone is the greatest red herring i've ever seen. It's just like the 6 months before the N95 was released in which everyone logged in here and voted for it as the best phone ever without ever seeing one, how many people are ACTUALLY USING THE IPHONE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS? Speaking as a cellphone retail manager i can tell you right now that the iPhone in this country was one of the most limp, underwhelming handsets of the last two years. The nokia mid-range lineup is far more important in the short AND long term. Don't get me wrong, you'll never hear me shouting for Nokia, but with all respect, everyone talks about ferraris and drives volkswagens, so can we all please stop wetting our pants about a phone that's not going to be affordable for everyday use for half a decade?

              @ Stanly. Where exactly did you get that made up information from? If you "actually" work for vodafone, where abouts? I'm in the EBU section in Newark. So please enlighten me on your info.

                  The iphone is way over exadur8ed, I dont know what the fuss is about. I am currently using an N95 and am loving it! It has more features! Im guessing that if the iphone is dropped u can say goodbye to it because it wil shatter into a million pieces? Ive spilt alcohol all over my N95, dropped it more than enough times to for it to fall to peices and it still works perfectly!!
                  I would never trade my N95 for a poxy iphone!!

                      More over Voda fone is very poor in INDIA. Already it is sufferring from too much of network congesition in south india. Many times some one know to you is calling you and some wrong call gets connected. First Voda must look in to this before bringing is new plans and adds.

                        vodafone doesnt roam on the telstra 2g network!

                        they have thier own network...

                          also NextG (for those who didn't know) is a BRANDING NAME for 3.5g (or HSPDA) as well as Optus' "Turbo G" Which is also 3.5g...
                          makes me laugh how much people get suckered into believing marketing (although I have to admit that the marketing was very clever...

                            just shows how oblivious the australian market truly is. 3 is the only network that uses telstra roaming in metropoloitan and rural areas. optus and vodafone both use telstra roaming in REMOTE areas in Australia but all that will change when Vodafone complete their coverage upgrades in Dec '08 and Optus in May '09.. At which point all 3 major carriers will have the same network coverage... Leaving 3 the only carrier that uses "national roaming"

                              Voda can keep the Iphone for all I care. Congratulations though in getting it, but its not a phone I would want, far to many issues at this stage.

                              Also, the 3% less coverage than Telstra is in 3G area (City Area), not Next G (Country and Rural Area).

                              To the people who want to switch to Voda, have fun with coverage issues, long hours waiting on hold, speaking to someone from overseas, no service or after sales care.

                                its funny because if you arent on voda 3g, you are roaming on telstra 2g. so no, voda does not have more coverage, and 3g has horrible coverage everywhere but major city centres in aus.

                                and bleh, it might mean more customers, but theres something like a 4% markup which means no profit in it. hooooooooorah, well done voda, get prepared to be at&t number 2

                                  i just hope when they bring the new I-Phone out it gets a decent camera, bluetooth and all the normal things we get on our mobiles today. not the features of a 2006 phone 2 megapixel camera no bluetooth. like iphone now.
