It's through the voice channels within a group, you must be in a group chat and start a voice chat. then enable video calling. Up to 30 people can turn on their cameras, the rest will be just listening

Tried most of the popular messengers, signal is better ui (opinion), security, privacy wise

Also not on web version.
No update on playstore too. So can I do video call to just 1 person instead of a group?

these Ideas are cool for marketing or in theory, but the way they’re executed here is so cheesy. When I read “Animated backgrounds” in the post title I thought of the ability to set gifs or mp4s to loop as the message background, but no. Instead it’s some boring ugly gradient shift. I’m not sure exactly what I’m looking at with the animated message bubbles, it seems completely unfinished for an aspect that’s supposed to be “polish” yet here it’s touted as some feature? iMessage does this effect much better and it’s been doing it for ten years... video conferencing is the only actual feature worth noting here and even then it’s telegram playing catch-up for covid

Would love to see more alternatives to Facebook/Instagram/Watsapp, Twitter and Google/YouTube. Monopolies affect customers and individual freedoms the most, and no amount of fining by authorities and governments can restore them. Therefore the more apps, with mass reach, is the only way to protect individual freedoms and liberties.

They need to up their encryption game and reach or even surpass Signal. Would be nice to also solve the issue of unsent messages that appear once in a while. But carry on, for now, You're doing great being the best substitute to Facebook, What's App, and Twitter all in one. Works perfectly for me espically since there is no censorship.
