Indian devs are able to build ROM ans custom kernel with it.
Sources are no longer an excuse yet.

Don't listen to myths about mediatek.
In this price you could get a medium Snapdragon or a powerful (yet chipper) mediatek.
I prefer get the price down and who knows.. maybe an upgrade to cameras will happen too? :)

Finally a competitive processor inside the the Nord instead of the overprice Nord last year with Snapdragon 765.
Looks like they are facing heat from Realme, Xiaomi, iQOO and others to put in better processor

XDA-Developers ran a story about how flashing custom ROM on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro ended up completely bricking the device and couldn't it unbricked until it was sent to a service centre*.

Since even the Oneplus 9 has plastic frame, Pixel 5 uses plastic aluminium, and even S21 uses plastic back

Well, given that the original Nord is still with official LOS 17.1 instead of the latest LOS 18.1 -- despite being a Qualcomm SoC -- I would say this Mediatek will be pretty much in the sh*t tier of official LOS support (if it even gets it at all, given the poor track record that Mediatek has).
