That said, GSMA isn't a "user"—they reviewed it, during which the phone wasn't loaded with as much apps (with running background services) as the average user would have on their units. Also firmware versions factor.

It only took 5-10 minutes, no bootloader unlock was needed. There was less of a chance of bricking the phone. More people rooted their phones as custom ROM was a requirement for smooth performance on certain phones. These days with better hardware, most people need not need these tweaks to make their phones smooth.

This is why they are reporting their phones to be smooth.
They aren't pushing theory device heavily, most of them are general casual users and not power users, this is why experience is smooth for them.
You probably a heavy user, expecting flagship performance out of budget phones.
They are right when they say it's smooth, even Gsmarena confirms it.

But maybe the higher the amount RAM on the phone, the more it uses it, I need opinions from people with 12GB/16GB RAM phones.
