Sony Xperia 1 III earns a 6/10 repairability score in disassembly video

You don't need to take the whole phone apart to replace the screen, but repairs can still be very finicky.

Have you noticed improvement or problems after the updates?
Any other issues that popped up that you didn't realize or notice at first?
This will be my first Sony phone if I get it, so I'd like to learn as much as possible.

Falling several times, have thrown it several times as well. Sony build is an assurance already. Too bad they've left Philippines and now were left and saturated with alien sounding brands.lol

I would love to see a regular swappable battery, but I guess that is too much to ask in times where companies removed 3.5mm jack and now start to remove MicroSD card slots too...

iFixit is a completely unrelated website (they also have a YouTube channel but it's not their main focus), and they have their own scoring system. They have done teardowns on all iPhones, and they always receive an iFixit score of 6 or 7.
                  Two completely different things.

The glue is likely required for protection from liquid and dust.

Seems average, iPhones have gotten a 6/10 for what feels like about a decade. I once replaced the battery on a Xperia Z1 Compact and it was stupid easy once the glue on the plastic back (which doesn’t crack, even though I prefer the feel of glass) was loose. It was like 1 screw and because there was an NFC component on the new one, I didn‘t have to replace that. Works fine to this day with Android 11 LineageOS. The Z3 generation was really bad though with lots of quality issues, and the big Z1 had a much worse TN panel.

Do not expect samsung to sell this this year, just has announced their version recently.

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2021Samsung gets 3.You mean on iFixit? Wrong site.
They didn't teardown the Xperia 1 III or give it a score.
Also, you'll have to be more specific. Samsung is a manufacturer, and they make many models of phones - all of which have received different repairability scores.

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2021Keep spreading misinformation. S21 gets 4, not 3. https:... moreYou are confused. PBKreviews is not iFixit.
The former is a Youtube channel which started giving repairability scores in 2021.
                              Recent scores:
                              Sony Xperia 1 III: 6/10
                              Samsung Galaxy S21 5G: 7.5/10
                              S21+: 7/10
                              S21 Ultra: 6/10

iFixit is mainly a website (though they're also on Youtube). They have had their own scoring system since the first iPhone in 2007. Their recent scores:
                              S21: 4/10
                              S21 Ultra: 3/10

The Xperia X Compact (2016) is the only Sony phone iFixit has done a teardown for.

Unrelated to that, there was a interesting head-to-head comparison against the Samsung Galaxy S21. The Xperia 1 III outperformed it in significantly more tests, although usually by a small margin on each: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9kEW-QXESI

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2021makes sense... how can you repair a phone you dont have? ... moreOn a more positive note, people can be highly confident that the parts they would purchase would be genuinely high-grade components since there are no counterfeit or low quality parts for this phone coming from China.

Idk the situation in other countries, but in the Philippines, there are some online stores in Lazada and Shopee that offer replacement parts for the Xperia 1 II, such as the rear camera array and charging port, and they are imported from China. At the very least, anyone may wanna try first to find possible source of replacement parts for Xperias before making a purchase.
Either way, I'd still be confident in owning the 1 III despite the lacking of replacement parts availability, as Sony phones have always been robust and known to really last long. For as long as I take good care of my phone, I would have absolutely nothing to worry about.

The cooling system seems pretty robust, having thermal pad on both sides of the processor. Most phones only have it on the underside.
