Weekly poll results: rollable phones are the next big thing after foldables

04 July 2021
Meanwhile, preferences have shifted away from small clamshell foldables and towards bigger horizontal folders (but not dual folders).

So glad to be part of the premium Ecosystem of Android where one is getting cutting edge tech like rollables.
Competing ecosystem doesn't even have a foldable yet.

Giving users what they want - Another victory for Android in the smartphone domain.
No wonder Android wins OS of choice on smartphones Award every year.
Crushing the competition every year. It's just Addicted to WINNING! and the consumers win because of this approach as well.

Forget putting a tempered glass and a back cover.

how about looking for a better option than lipo batteries ? something that won't degrade that much and more friendly to the environment, instead of following these gimmicks that majority don't care about, cause if we wanted a bigass phone for media consumption a laptop is always a better, cheaper option

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2021They should work on the battery instead. Lithium ion has be... moreMan solution for that already exist and dont at the same time.
Irridium cells are capable of refueling regenerating and recharging on its own.
Problem is irridium is so rare material in nature it almost doesnt exist and the existing quantities are small even for testing by or for army purposes.

Also recharging by sun should be an option or by any kind of light if we developed powerfull enough charger to not take many hours or even days to charge the battery by this kind of solution.

Its same way like long time ago almost 50 years since engine working on pure water were invented by some german sciencist problem is large oil and gas companies got rid iof this person because it would kill their bussiness.
Same like Nikolai Tesla invented a tower which could drain electricity from nature from storms for example and give it for free to humanity.
Some people wont allow to give you something for free to ruin their bussiness and powerty.
In this case and all cases above said humans deserve extinction. To be erased from universe. Because money and powerty is a sin and doesnt deserve anything just obliteration i.e. banish from existnece.

          Or :
Foldable phone with rigid display, like the double display cases that LG provided with the latest V50 and V60 :
          https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_v50_thinq_5g-review-2047.php

But with the two display forming a single one by getting flush when opened, like the Samsung "The Wall" :

It would be cheaper, have no crease, do the exact same result, be completely IP Rating ready, and won't wear down the display nor crack it from continuous use.
A simple brush + protection mechanism on the back would do wonders and be almost perfect if the first rows of pixels are squishy.

I like the Mate X design over Z fold for the future when bendable screens are more durable, till then Motorola Razr is good.

They should work on the battery instead. Lithium ion has been around for decades and it's time they change the battery tech for something better instead of increasing the charging speeds upto very very high levels which is unnecessary and hardly anyone asked for

The next big thing should be 1 week battery phones, no matter how hard you use the phone. Work on that, instead of the phone size and screens!

We didn't even have the chance to experience the foldable mobile phones. Let alone the rollable.
                  llllllllllllllllooooooooooooollllllllllllllll

Or a lot of creases on rollables?

"There are disadvantages, of course. That screen is exposed to scratches and damage at all times, similar to outward folding designs. And they need a motor to extend and contract the device."

Thinking about the Huawei Mate X design, that is a good point. An outward folding solution might sound cool, but you are using the same screen when folded and unfolded. Maybe that is why Samsung and Xiaomi use two different screens so there is less chance of both screens stopped working when accidentally dropped. Even Huawei went to that same route for the Mate X2.

                        No crease on rollables.

Well, I forgot to vote in the second poll...
