Its quite possible they're facing heavy costs too, and this brand itself doesn't look like it will sell much. Samsung and Apple are the ones making so much profits that they have money to throw in legal proceedings and TV advertisements.

      2. Because a phone is not only a chipset. Its much more than that. Now, I admit that the midrange chipset might prove to be a bottleneck in the camera itself, but you have to admit that midrange phones from big manufacturers come in the same price gap.
      Its easy for Samsung to sell a midranger in $400.

      3. Agreed. But an ultra wide doesn't always have to be high resolution. It needs to cover more, that's it. 8MP is mostly doable for social media and printing and all. How often do you print on A4 sheets, tell me?
      Ultra wide is a proper camera because it can serve a purpose where main camera can't. Imagine you need a building's pic, but you're not far from it, so you can use ultrawide.
      If that pic goes to just some official work, I think you won't mind much the lower quality.
      Similarly for some official group selfie, wideangle won't hurt.

      Its the macros and the depth sensors that are almost useless.
      Depth is useless because BG blur is not too used all the time. Macro because most of the time, crops from the main sensor does a better job than such macros.
      Wide angle is useful.

          (2) I said the Helio chip doesn't belong in a $400 phone, it belongs in sub-$250 phones. So why are you bringing up the cameras of $250 phones? Stop trying to divert from the subject.

          (3) I love how you say "5 proper cameras". It's like companies that used to put 2 or 3 cheap cameras on the front of their phones and market those phones as having "quintuple camera setups". Instead of just letting the actual camera quality sell itself because quantity doesn't beat quality. (Except here it's just a sheep overselling a trash company's phone) Regardless of that, they aren't "5 proper cameras". An 8 MP ultrawide camera is not proper. Neither front nor rear. A higher FOV requires a higher resolution sensor to maintain detail, not a lower one. This isn't 2014. 8MP sensors and below should've been left in the past.

                              No, it's not the best. Not even close. If it had OIS and a better ISP, then it might be better
