My bro has a Galaxy Tab 7 inch, yes it is too small for me also, but would be much better if it had higher resolution (its only 1024x600)

[deleted post]hahah, yeah so many people cannot afford this?

tell us, how did you buy your iphone? Because, very interesting statistics tell us that iphones are sold on contracts more than any other phone, meaning that iphone owners cannot afford to cash their phones?

But me, who have no apple products at all, im supposed to be poor and jelous, but yet all my phones have been sim free, and in addition i change fones often? How come i cannot afford it, but around 80% of iphone5 were sold through carriers and not in stores? I dont get it, who is it who cannot afford anything here?

I bought a Galaxy Note II last thursday. Sim free, paid cash. How about you my little friend, 22 to 23 months left on your iphone5 contract maybe?

We are not even a rich family, barely above average, only one income, our car is not new at all (but looks great lol)

[deleted post]Not really. I just bought a brand new Galaxy Tab 7.7 for $500. If I can afford a $500 Galaxy Tab, I can certainly afford a $320 iPad mini....

S, 23 Oct 2012Soo.. it's not a competition to the Nexus 7 because it's so... moregood point, apple is somewhat eating of their own marketshare here. OTOH, the average customer is less informed than the GSMArena reader, i doubt many will run out of teh apple store shouting "i will buy nexus 7 instead of your outdated garbage!"

About eating their own marketshare, Im sure they compensated the profit vs the expenses. Intel had a similar headache when launching the Atom processors, they feared it would steal too much sales from their more expensive offerings, but i have to say they did a good job in keeping the Atom series at a low enough performance, and at the same time boosting their high end processors, skyrocketing in performance so fast that AMD never knew what hit them. (But Core i3 is still below par, i hate those)

The most basic iPad mini is more than £100 expensive than the Nexus 7. With apps now coming in both Android and Apple format Apple has no real edge except for reasonable pricing which it seems to have got a bit wrong. They're making a heck of a large margin in profit on this mini iPad then. Seems a little greedy.

cheap product at a high price..
                        nexus 7 32gb launching at 249$
with the most advanced OS in the world-jellybean and specs that beat the mini already
to all those apple fanboys complaining about iOS not requiring higher specs...
well the screen is mediocre and even gingerbread can do more than your restricted iOS 6...(and guys a jailbroken iphone/ipad cannot do many things than a non-rooted android).

the reason why 7 inch tablets got popular was the optimum screen size(7 inches for a variety of things) and the premium features at a cheap price(around 200$)

ipad minin has none....still it will sell millions.
I am better of being the smart user and buying the nexus 7 32gb

Arun, 23 Oct 2012I may accept the first paragraph... But the second one .. i... moreThe Dalvik is Androids weakness here. Still, we cannot deny Dalviks advantages, just look at Moto Razr i, same apps running on both ARM and x86 (Intel) processors. The compatibility is impressive, and for a VM it has jawdropping efficiency.

The Dalvik assures that Android will never run into a dead end like Nokias Symbian did (Nokia Symbian apps were not compatible with newer than Armv6).

However, Android offers something they call the NDK, which let you write programs in C/C++, this is code that will be compiled, and does not use more RAM than an iOS app (assuming comparative programming skills on the human factor). So, Android has a tradeoff, it use more RAM to increase compatibility and create smaller apps that are fast to install, but it still offers the option to create native ARM or x86 binaries using the NDK.

Soo.. it's not a competition to the Nexus 7 because it's so much slower and more expensive but it's a decent, more portable alternative to the full-sized Ipad that is basically equal to the Ipad2 power-wise. It's very unlikely they'll take a share from Android or Amazon. They'll take a share of their own potential market only.

But the second one .. is not true.. iPad mini is compatible to all iPad 3/4 apps. Apple mentioned it. And its true that iOs apps needs less ram than Android apps. I mean same apps.. and iPad apps are way better than android tablet apps... And apple is not rejecting apps for using more ram... They force developers to create better app experience with less ram!

That has been proven false for Symbian and whatever OS that claims so.

If there was a magical way to execute apps with slow processors and small RAM then everyone would do it, but they dont, becoz there is no such magic. Symbian Apps appear to run well coz they are oversimplified and have restricted functionality to counter for slow hardware. For ipad Mini its similar, apple has full control over apps in appstore and can opt to reject apps that will push the memory limit of ipad mini, they can let ipad3 owners install it but not ipad mini owners. This way they can make an illusion of efficient hardware.
